This was my first time back in a while, but the food was very good, as it has been in the past, and the wait staff was very accommodating. My friend and I were running late and we actually were the last ones there and they were really pleasant about it.

We recently visited Chicago and ate at West Egg both mornings while were there. The food is awesome and they brought it out very fast. The coffe is the best ever!

I never thought one can mess up breakfast but to my surprise this place can. The food was so bland and undercooked that it tasted like someone put eggs and veggies in a microwave and sprinkle some old cheese and charged 7 bucks for it. The potatoes tasted like they were frying for a couple of days. The coffee tasted like they were going the cheap route and added less coffee grounds and more water. The service was HORRIBLE. Coffe and water is self served through a pitcher (although not sure how long the water has been sitting there) at a table. Service is rude and not helpful. The only thing this place has going for itself is a good location. I never like giving a place a bad review but I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE AGAIN!!
Report This ReviewTruly awful. The other reviewer who said the food is pre-cooked is right on. Even huevos rancheros were hot on the outside, cold on the inside. A physics miracle if they cooked to order. One side note - we saw Joe Crede there the day the Sox won a World Series game. So that's cool, I guess.
Report This ReviewFun. Tasty. Great prices. I've been coming here for years and have never grown tired of the menu. Yes, the staff can be less than pleasant-but look at how hard they work! Every weekend the place is packed with customers, if I worked there I'd be a little curt myself. Dinners aren't great, but breakfast is wonderful. All in all a nice place to eat.
Report This ReviewIf I could give the staff a -1, I would. What's with all the attitude? We saw him once & he acted irritated that we had the audacity to order food. I don't want to wait tables, so I don't...I'd advise the staff here to do us all a favor...the same.
The food was decent but the layout makes for a hard time maneuvering anywhere in the place. I live within a stone's throw....& love breakfast food but would rather walk a mile in the cold to eat at one of the thousand other places in the city, than get treated like crap at this hole.
We ordered the rotisserie chicken thinking it to be fresh out of the rotisserie. It seemed to be about three days old. I cannot understand the dinner menu either. They feature "dinner specials" which have remained the same for the last year or so.
Report This ReviewWest Egg has become increasingly disappointing in recent months. It is quite obvious that most of what is being served is pre-cooked and/or packaged food. Nothing on the menu is that special. Sandwiches tend to be heavy and greasy for no apparent reason. What used to be fresh salads have also gone down hill in recent months. Even the ubiqutous fried potatoes are disappointing. The place is generally less-than clean. I've often had to wipe down the table or the bench before sitting down. The staff is not polished. They are abrupt when serving food, something akin to tossing your plates on the table, and once you are served, good luck ever seeing your waiter again. It's no wonder the plates are chipped, the busboys don't know how to clear a table without making a racket and causing a disturbance. Something has changed at West Egg, and not for the better.
