So, I have eaten plenty of times at Mels. Actually started eating there starting in '03. However seems like since then, their staff has been reduced, there prices raised, their portions shrunk and the amount of time it takes to get a server to notice/acknowledge/greet you has increased. Even on an off night, say, Tuesday, when there aren't many people in the restaurant, the staff would rather have a conversation and talk about random nonsense than to actually walk over and help you ( i mean that is their job right?).
Regarding the food, they have a pretty good kitchen staff. They haven't screwed up anything I have requested, even though I tend to ask for the same thing every time. This however is not true for all the Mel's Diners, only this one. The one in the Valley actually is really good. Have only been to the one off Hollywood Blvd, once, but they were still pretty good.

For some reason, I think I like this place more in the daytime. It seems like the food is better, a little more fresh! Though its a 24 hour spot, the later it gets the longer I think the chef has been sleeping on the grill.
