Lou Mitchell's: User Reviews
Lou Mitchell's
565 W. Jackson Blvd. - Chicago312-939-3111
We were hoping for a great authentic diner experience here and we got it - bad "kiss my grits" service and all. Perhaps they do this on purpose. It's probably one of the few places in the loop to get breakfast so without competition they can survive but place it agaist other breakfast places and they come up short. The coffee is really not that great. They double filter it meaning they line the coffee maker with two filters. Is that something really special? And can someone please tell me what's up with the prunes?
Report This ReviewIt's a real shame what has happened to Lou Mitchell's in the past few years. It went from being able to make it's claim to "The World's Best Breakfast" with a straight face to being way, way below average. The past handful of times I've been there the service has been horrible, the food cold and greasy. Overall the experience was not good. In town visiting from Kansas and want to see the famous Lou Mitchell's. Great, stop on by. But if you are a local looking for a place for breakfast try the Maple Leaf on Taylor, Wishbone on Washington, or the Atrium on Monroe instead.
Report This ReviewBest coffee in Chicago!
Report This ReviewI was taken by a colleague that lived in Chitown for 5 years. Great doughnut holes when we walked in and then an absolutely delicious omelette served in a skillet. A soda shop atmosphere with quick service and very good prices.
Report This ReviewPoeple must remember that this is a diner. You go there go there for a great deal, good greasy, all-american food and a busy, bustling environment that's part of Chicago history. Great place! And you can't beat the homemade donut holes they serve while you wait!
