I decided to take my sister to Kuma's who was visiting from out of town. I have probably been there about half a dozen times so I know the routine - long waits, poor service, good burger. We jumped on seats at the bar and asked several times how long our food would take - we were told 30-45 minutes. That timing was just fine and we made it clear (several times) we had to catch a flight. After an hour and fifteen minutes and no food in sight, even after being told our food was being "plated" by the bartender (it wasn't), we headed out the door without the food.
I guess all of this would have been fine but for the awful attitude/service of the bartender. I'm not sure if she was drunk or incompetent, but no matter how many times we told her we had to leave, we were met with blank stares and assurances that she would check on our order - only to watch her continue to serve drinks and chat up other customers while NOT checking on our order (this went on for about 25 minutes).
I don't care how good the food is anywhere. This sort of service (and based on other recent reviews we weren't the only ones) will end up catching up to a place. The crowd that finds it ironic and amusing to be met with long waits and poor service will only carry a place so far. Which is too bad because I really like their burgers and the music.

Kuma's is incredible, especially for the meat lovers out there! Every burger you can imagine so uniquely served, amazing. And the pasta mac & cheese, unbelieveable. Love this place!

The guy who was working the door on Thursday night, June 18 th was the most incompetent, rude, clueless person in the world. He claimed to be the manager, which I doubt. Either way - never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever again will I go to Kuma's - EVER.

I thought this place was supposed to be good? I had such a horrible experience that I'm actually on here writting a review, should have read the reviews before I went. This place is not somewhere I'd ever go again, the people are weird, they are not good at what they do, they are rude and do not care about you. Oh and the food, not that great. I have better burgers. Just a weird and horrible place, like a bad dream.

We waited 45 minutes to be seated, only to wait nearly an hour for 4 hamburgers. Waitress said our meals were taking so long because we ordered burgers medium-well...(Give me a break)...Neighborhood is creepy, and art work is not for the family-minded! Frankly, the staff take themselves too seriously for a burger joint. Management, what I saw of it, is arrogant and self-serving. They act as if they're doing you some favor by letting in their hot, overpriced watering hole. No reason to spend time or money here when Chicago offers so many good restuarants, where patrons are actually appreciated...Don't blame me if choose to go to Kuma's. And please, don't take children there. (You've been warned!)

This place is clueless as to what customer service means. Guess what, those burgers are good but not worth dealing with the collection of high-school drop outs that work there. I'll pass on Kumas - forever, horrible, horrible experience. One more thing - heavy metal bar? I think not.

We went to Kuma's Corner and were told we had an hour wait which was fine for good food because we just got a few drinks and waited. This all started at 1:15. When we got our seat, we placed our order right away and just got burgers. We didn't get our order until 3:45. By that point we were so mad and hungry and the angry music didn't help the mood. We wanted to just leave but felt that we had waited that long. The burgers may have been good but when you wait that long, you don't really care about how great the food tastes cause you're so angry that it took so long. I don't mind waiting for a good restaurant but i do mind waiting after I've been seated for almost 2 hours just for a burger.

You definitely will be waiting for a long time so make sure you have allotted enough time in your day to come eat here. It will take a while. Free advice: bar seating is first come, first serve. So, if you get a spot there, you better take it; it will save you a lot of time. I ordered the Mayhem and wouldn't order it again. Friend ordered the Plague Bringer - I recommend that for sure. Mac & Cheese was delicious! Service wasn't bad and waitresses were very nice and respectful. Music was a bit loud and annoying but not unbearable. You can always order out, which may not be a bad idea. Burgers are kinda expensive, but you get a lot for your money. My burger wasn't worth the wait, but my friend's was. However, if you are willing to wait, this place is worth a try at least.

I've been to Kuma's many, many times. Everybody understand something first off: This is a METAL joint. The music is metal. The staff is metal. The burgers are named after metal bands. The waitresses have tattoos and the managers have bull rings. The music is fast & loud & there are pinups on the wall. This is KUMAS. The food is amazing; everything is impeccably done from the burgers to the mac & cheese to the mussels. It's incredibly busy there EVERY DAY because the food is that damn good. And the service is just as phenomenal. Realize two things: 1st, the kitchen is the size of your bathroom. It's small. Food takes a while when it's cooked to order. Second, If you go in with attitude, you'll get attitude back. Neither my fiancee nor I have tattoos or crazy hair, but we always get top-notch service. Also, once a month every dollar made behind the bar is donated to a local charity. That amount is matched by the owner. That alone should show that these are good people, cooking good food, and being true to themselves while they do it. If you don't want to wait 2.5 hours for food, go before 5.

This place has the best burgers in the entire city!!!! I've read a lot of reviews here about shabby service at Kuma's, but we must have gotten lucky because our server was great! She was able to recommend both burgers and beer, and knew exactly what she was talking about. The place is always packed, so as long as you're not bothered by a large crowd or a wait, it is well worth it! The Kuma burger is the best!
