In Japanese, "kuma" means "bear." But at Kuma's Corner, the Logan Square spot specializing in American comfort food classics, it means beef--a half-pound Angus beef burger, to be exact. You'll also find Better Than Mom's Meatloaf, a cheddar-smothered mac and cheese, and other made-in-the-U.S.A. faves. (Why the Japanese name? Owner Mike Cain named the spot after his pet Akita.) The spot strives for an upscale grill ambience without stuffiness. "Everyone that works here is tattooed and pierced," he says. Kuma also offers a patio.
