Izola's offers 'delicious home cooking' in an atmosphere that is friendly. There are two dining areas here. Upon entering, an area with four tables and 10 stools at the counter is available. If you choose instead to eat in the larger dining room, you'll get to see the warmth that this restaurant promotes. Twenty-four tables are in this second room, which, unlike the smaller area, is carpeted. There are prominent portraits of such local heroes as Harold Washington, Chicago's first black mayor, and Charles Hayes, former 1st District Congressman. Above one table close to the entrance is a painting of Ray Charles. Izola's breakfast menu features such standards as pancakes and eggs. There are sandwiches featured on the lunchtime menu, and the dinner menu features catfish and baked chicken.

This place makes you feel like you're eating at a friend's house. Definitely down home eats. I love grabbing breakfast at the counter.
