It was Mother's Day. My husband of 5 years decided to take me out to bruch. As we pulled up into the parking lot, I was a little taken aback as this was Mother's Day and I was expecting to be taken to a fancy restaurant. When we entered, we were greeted and seated by a wonderful, cheerful waitress. We ordered our food. It was so delicious. I told my husband that it was like being in my own kitchen. I loved the down-home atmosphere. It made us very confortable. As my husband had transferred to Chicago for a new job, I was still teaching in our home state. I traveled to Chicago every weekend and every weekend we have gone to Edna's. The fried chicken wings, mac and cheese and greens are my favorite. The banana pudding is my husband's favorite. We were so tickled with the place, we brought food back to the front desk staff at our apartment. I highly recommend this wonderful place. It'll take you back home! Thanks for making Chicago feel like home for us.

My husband and I had less than 48 hours in the Windy City last January. This weekend trip was a birthday present from my husband of almost twenty years. After seeing the story about Edna's on the "Making a Difference" story on the NBC Evening News, I new we had to find Edna's on our trip. Just knowing that Dr. King once visited this historic restaurant made our lunch quite memorable. The service and the food were both excellent. I highly recommend the fish and the potato salad. My children are excited about a future trip to Chicago and a visit to Edna's Restaurant.

I went this weekend for the first time (although I am a native Chicagoan) as part of my birthday celebration. It was some of the best food I have ever had in Chicago. The prices are too low for "good soul food". Edna herself served me more of her mouth watering biscuits, I got more Mac 'n Cheese and she even threw in some of her special cobbler, free for me and my family. It was the icing on the cake for a great 36th birthday. I STRONGLY recommend you go! I know I am coming back...SOON.

I love Edna's breakfast. It's great!! If you like old school southern food like your grandma use to make then this place is for you. My mama and I went on June 15th for breakfast. We had a veggie omelets with cheese, sausage, hash browns and biscuits with lemonade for $15.00. That's a delicious deal!!
