Baisi Thai

My husband and I just came back from Baisi Thai. It was a great experience. They moved into the Old McDonald's restaurant site at Oakbrook Mall, and it is awesomely decorated. Its got some flare, but is overall pretty minimalist.
The food was great. My husband ordered the chinese fried rice, and he really liked it. I got the Bamei Pad Lard Nar (with chicken). It was great. The food was fresh, not greasy or oily, and the sauce wasn't overly thickened with cornstarch (a pet peeve of mine). The sauce stuck great of my noodles, but wasn't too thick. We had tiramisu for dessert. Not the best tiramisu I've had--but then again I was eating an Italian dessert at a Thai restaurant. But it was good. We had two entrees a dessert for under $25. A big plus--we had enough for lunch the next day.
Waiter was great. We were seated immediately. We were served water immediately. Our waiter was very polite, friendly and fast.
Overall I would totally recommend to anyone!

We always eat here in Baisi Thai; their food is always consistent and excellent. As a matter a fact, they have some dishes way better than in Thailand. Their service usually good, for some reason last Friday 8/22 we had a horrible experienced. We made a reservation for party of 17 and when we went there, the hostess were very rude and told us we have to sit in 2 different table. We asked them if they can put the table together, and again she’s very rude said no I can’t do anything about it and I will let you talk to the manager and rolled her eyes and left. Manager came; very arrogant… he told us they can’t put the table together and I can’t do anything about it. NO apologies…nothing… We told them at least informed us when we made a reservation…. You know what they told us very conceited that “you should be thankful that we accepted your reservation for that big party! And if you don’t want to eat here you can go somewhere else!!!! “Very Rude and Conceited!!!!! My last word to Baisi Thai Management…. if you continue treating your customer this way… you will definitely lose your business. No wonder lately you are not as busy as before.

Great food for the money! Best sweet and sour chicken and egg rolls. It's not really greasy and it's very fresh tasting.
Report This ReviewThis is my all-time favorite restaurant. After living in Chicago for years and then moving down south, Baisi Thai is one of the things that I really miss about life in Chicago. Every time we visit Chicago, we absolutely make time to eat Pad Thai and Pad See-Iew at Baisi Thai. I have never found Thai food that I like nearly as well. It is just delicious.
Report This ReviewI would like to share that I'm not much of a fan of Thai food. I was dragged by my father to eat at Baisi Thai. I ordered their Pad Thai, and what can I say... their Pad Thai made me give Thai food a second chance.
Report This ReviewWe make it a girls lunch when we go to Basi Thai. Always friendly, fast, and the food always tastes great. Perfect for a lunch break. Not fast food, but good food fast.
Report This ReviewMy GF and I ate there on Fri. night. Despite the fact that there were almost as many wait staff as patrons (and the place was maybe 20% full), the wait staff seemed happiest standing by the wall and not doing anything. Our server didn't have attitude, but she came by the table maybe three times. It took us 20 min. to get the check, and it wasn't even our waitress who brought it. Maybe the staff is better during other parts of the week, but while the food was pretty good (and the kind of industrial look to the place was a nice change from Thai kitsch), I'm certainly more inclined the next time I'm at the mall to go to Houlihan's across the walk even if I want Thai in the future.
Report This ReviewDon't know what the other reviewer's problem was, but I love Baisi Thai. I've been working across from Oak Brook Mall for years, and love to take my lunch break there. The food is good, and not too expensive, and always very fast.
