I hate giving 5 stars but...

What a find! Oysy's lunch deal is the best deal in town. $12 for a HUGE platter of food. There's sushi, your choice of steak, chicken or veggiterian options for the main, tempura, a sweet potato dumpling thing, salad and a whole bunch more. If you want to try a great sushi place in the downtown area and not pay too much, try Oysy for lunch. You won't be dissapointed!

They screwed up my take out order and refused to correct it. The server who helped me was extremly rude. I would never set foot in this restaurant again. Offensive cant even begin to describe the wait staff.

Very disappointed
By Jesse from West Loop, December 14, 2008

I dined in yesterday night with my buddies. It's my friend's favorite spot so I decided to give it a try. The staff was very friendly and helpful but the food was very disappointing to me. Some kitchen items like grilled steak was o.k. but, sushi was incredibly disgusting. Every nigiri that I ordered was somewhat fishy. The rolls were tasteless-especially the rainbow dragon. it looked pretty on the eye but tasted awful. I would never go back

A South Loop favorite...
By Patrick from Oak Park, October 19, 2008

This evening we tried the Dragon -- it was delicious and beautifully presented. Ganmo soup, a favorite on past visits, did not disappoint. Edamame pods were quite good. Lotus root tempura was fine, too. The only quibble tonight was that the fried seafood dumplings were fishier that we preferred -- we had kitty-cat breath for a while! Overall good food, pleasant room and cordial service keep Oysy a favorite south Loop destination for us...

Good Place!

I just ordered take out for lunch there. The food was very good, very fresh fish. the atmosphere was very nice and I felt very cozy when walking in. Not many people though, because it was so late in the day, but very attentive staff. Service was great, and the price for the quality of my sushi was reasonable. I would go back again!

Fresh, reasonably priced sushi!
By tinijocaro, May 25, 2008

With the sushi of Tokyo as my gauge, we were both very pleasantly surprised with Oysy. Very reasonably priced with good portions. I didn't feel they tried to skimp on the fish as some places do. Fish was very fresh. The sauce on the eel was very tasty. The dragon roll was huge. From someone who lived in Japan and has had authentic sushi, I highly recommend this place.

Disappointing
By GK from River North, January 16, 2008

I am pretty new to the area so I was walking down the street one day and saw this place. It looked busy and was fairly priced, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I was very disappointed. We ordered two basic rolls to start and were very unhappy with the food. The rice was undercooked and there was no "spicy" in the spicy tuna roll we ordered. My search for good, fairly priced sushi continues.

The sushi and service are amazing. Probably the best Yellowtail I have ever had. Try the Emerald, a bit of a kick and totally yummy!! The Flirtini's are so good I had to have the receipe which they happily wrote down for me. This is a must eat at sushi place!! OYSY has quickly become my favorite sushi spot!

This place gets my 4...
By Prendi from Chicago, IL, June 11, 2007

This place gets my 4 star vote. I have NEVER left less than completely satisfied. My husband and I stop here about once a month and we've never been disappointed. I highly recommend the White Dragon special maki. I'm not sure where the last negative review came from about the fishy taste. It's been nothing but fresh good eating for us. In fact, the worst thing that's happened in the last year was that our server brought out the wrong specialty roll but there still no complaints, since my HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Lychee Martini was comp'd. This place is undbeatable - and did i mention the reasonable prices?
