Winston's Market

Neighborhood: Lakeview

Owner Jerry Winston caters to the modern urban family with this grocery and gourmet quick-serve spot. In the retail portion of the store, where aisles are extra-wide for easy stroller access, you'll find prepared foods, high-end sodas and house-processed hamburgers and sausages. There's also a selection of wine and beer, which you can purchase to-go or drink there with your food order.

Winston's offers fancy fixin's for your sandwiches: The turkey and fig comes with caramelized onions, blue cheese and fig compote on sourdough. The roast beef panino comes with smoked gouda, sun-dried tomato tapenade and herb aioli on a ciabatta. There are also build-your-own salad options, but we like the signature varieties like the roasted beet with herbed goat cheese. Entrees include down-to-earth options such as grilled skirt steak and chicken-and-tarragon stew.
