Ventrella's Caffe: User Reviews
Ventrella's Caffe
4947 N. Damen Ave. - Chicago773-506-0708
The food and atmosphere were average. The owner was very rude and nasty. I don't understand why someone would bother to open a place and then treat customers poorly, but, hey, I won't return!
Report This ReviewStopped by for a bite and a latte. Did not feel welcomed by staff. Food and latte just OK.
Report This ReviewDisappointed. Average place, coffee, and service.
Report This ReviewOwner was not very pleasant; we felt as though we were annoying him with questions about the menu.
Report This ReviewAt last, cool cats & kittens have a daytime hangout! The jukebox is loaded with rockabilly & jump blues classics! If Elvis was looking for a cool place to chill with a latte this would be it! Limited menu, but everything is spectacular!
Report This ReviewI've been to Vetrella's several times since it opened. Its great retro Italian ambience and friendly service, which is hip but not pretentious, make it special. The espresso drinks are authentic and put the usual Starbucks fare to shame. The house cannoli is sublime.
Report This ReviewJust got back from Ventrella's... it's great! They have drinks and a limited # of items, but what they have is VERY good. Plus they carry Damato's focaccia, which my famiy grew up on! Also a big fan of the atmosphere... just like to food, simple... but quality.
Report This ReviewStopped by on my way to work...wow. The place is gorgeous but not stuffy, the Ventrella panini rocked, and the pistachio gelato is alone worth a trip. I could spend an entire afternoon on the couch there. Also, as a decaf drinker, it's tough to find a decent cup of the stuff---nice to see Ventrella's did coffee right.
Report This ReviewStopped in the other day for a panini and some gelato. The gelato was out of this world, and if I could, I would stop in every day and get a scoop! Cute place, the only thing they need is free wi-fi.
Report This ReviewModern living calls for a classic sanctuary, and that is just what Ventrella's Caffe is providing to the Ravenswood/Logan Park area. A sleek yet casual oasis of smart mid-century design, Ventrella's top quality food and libations are a reminder of a time when there was just enough technology to make life better without complicating it.
Upon entering, my friend and I ordered the stracciatella gelato and took a seat at one of the little tables, each of which is charmingly outfitted with a different 1950's-style light. The gelato was perfect; the slivers of decadent shaved chocolate exquisitely suspended in the thick vanilla wonderfulness immediately made me forget computers were ever invented. With delightfully friendly service and the pure sounds of Mr. Ventrella's extensive roots music collection from the '40's-'60's added in, I was completely won over by this establishment.
