Illinois Center is a complex of five office buildings, two hotels and a residential building connected by an enclosed concourse lined with 100 or so shops and restaurants. WFLD-TV studios are located here, too. The trick for newcomers is navigating the mazelike walkways to find their destination. The maps posted throughout and signs overhead are somewhat helpful. Odds are, you will have to stop once or twice and ask for directions. Enter through one of the New East Side office buildings or hotels with which Illinois Center connects: Swissotel Chicago, 303 E. Wacker Dr.; Columbus Plaza, 233 E. Wacker Dr.; Hyatt Regency Chicago, 233 N. Michigan Ave.; buildings at 111 E. Wacker Dr.: 205 N. Michigan Ave.; 225 N. Michigan Ave.) This complex is not to be confused with the confusingly named State of Illinois Center office building in the Loop, which houses state government offices.

- The walkway is open 24 hours, seven days a week. Shop hours vary; most stores are open roughly 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday with limited hours on Saturday, closed on Sunday. Most restaurants open early and close early (3 p.m.), have limited hour.
