Mike Ditka's: User Reviews
I ordered a draft and three hamburger slider $11.00) vs the tenderloin ($15.00) that was dry and tasteless. Upon request of the check, when to my dismay saw the higher priced item and an 18 percent automatic gratuity for sitting at the bar with my friends even though we maintained separate checks and ordered our snacks separately. I was addressed in a rather hostile manner implying that I refusing to pay my bill vs my simply questioning the items. The managers in their tone and actions were rude and hostile. Their resolution was to waive the 4 dollar gratuity along with my immediate expulsion under the watchful eye of security; banished never to step foot in the restaurant (or sidewalk that they say they own)

We have eaten bar food at the bar many times at Ditka's and enjoyed it. This was our first time in the dining room. What an expensive disappointment. I ordered the prime rib medium rare at the waiter's suggestion rather than steak. I cook prime rib MUCH tastier than that. It was also tough and rare (but big). I also ordered aspargus with hollandaise sauce. The aspargus was undercooked and the sauce watery and tasteless. Soldiering on, I ordered the "signature" banana cream pie for dessert. It looked and tasted like it came right out of a box from a Jewel frozen food case.
In fairness, my wife like her medalions, mac and cheese (I strongly disagree), broccoli and apple pie.
I'll go back, but only in the bar for bar food.

by far, the best steak in town and the best atmosphere. I had the NY strip and it was done to perfection. You can share a salad and potato. They are all big portions. I also recommend the Ditka Bloody Mary. Finally, I ordered the banana cream pie. The waiter said if I thought the meal portions were big, the desert was "industrial".. No joke, it took 4 of us to eat the pie

I have never been to ditkas before and I have lived in Chicago for 3 years now. I am glad I stopped in because they have this amazing singer performing Frank Sinatra upstairs. He sounds just like him, so we stuck around for dinner and had a blast!

I had a decent experience but the food lacks in taste and freshness. I ordered a macadamia crusted tilapia and I thought it tasted extremely bland. My boyfriend had the filet oscar and although they cooked his steak well the bernaise tasted like gravy from a local diner. The atmosphere and service is respectful. If you've been spoiled with the abundance of excellent restaurants in Chicago you might be disappointed in the food here.

If you live in or near the city or visiting from out of town this is the place to go! I brought my cousins who were visiting from Ireland and we had a great time! We met Mike Ditka himself. What a nice guy! I was thrilled! The food was great, the waitress was very helpful! We were also blown away by the entertainer there..John Vincent. What a voice and show! It is a must see. The entire experience was wonderful!!!

Mike Ditla,
I love his Restaurant. The Food Wow what a meal I had. I had the Ribeye. It was cooked just the way I like it. Cooked to a Medium. And Delicious and Juicy. And as for the Atmospher it was nice. and the waiters and Waitresses they all are good there. I even got to meet Mike Ditka Himself. Wow what a Nice Guy. Meeting him is like meeting your Long Lost Uncle from the south. Really down to earth and I even got his Autograph. Yes It is true. Please believe me when I say that Mike Ditka's Restaurant is the place to go.
Thank you
Mike

As a concierge I often send people here because, after all, he is THE COACH! I always ask my guests to let me know how their experience was when they return to the hotel and they consistently rave about how great everything was. I love this place and hope everyone has the chance to try it themselves!

Went for dinner with my boyfriend because he is a Ditka fan. We did not see Ditka but the singer was phenominal! My boyfriend was disapointed but I wasn't. I am making him take me back next weekend!

Went there with co-workers to celebrate christmas holiday. Treated like dirt when 1 of our 14 party member was late. Wouldn't seat us even though we had a 8.5 month pregnant colleague. Made her stand. Hostess staff were completely rude and unattentive. When our party member finally arrived, they seemed almost reluctant to seat us. Service was poor. Food is overrated. We dropped close to $1,000 for a terrible experience. Extremely overrated, completely superficial...much like the owner. Will never go back.
