I work for Ankin Law Office as a rep, so I bring alot of people to dinner here. The service is great, the food is fantastic, wine list is great, and the people there are great. I have NEVER been given a meal that wasn`t something better than awsome.
Been to alot of steakhouse in Chicagoland and I think it is the best out there.
If you have to impress clients this is the place to go.

As a lifetime Chicagoan who has been the route of all the steak houses, Carmichael's is the one my out of town friends and guests like best. There are a lot of reasons to like this place: (1) it's easy to find--just west of the Loop, little street traffic; (2) absolutely no parking hassles--a free lot next to the restaurant (tip the car parker a few bucks); (3) nice open atmosphere with plenty of room between tables; (4) a very pleasant outdoor seating area for the six nice days Chicago enjoys; (5) terrific steaks, but even more important, plenty of items for smaller appetites and for non-steak eaters; (6) prices nicely below the 'business-account' steak houses where the triple chinned corporate types chow down slabs of beef too large for human consumption; (7) very attentive service, never obtrusive but always available.(8) An excellent bar, including superb martinis. My out of town guests always rave about Carmichael's and request a return visit whenever they're back in town.

Great food and service never seen s chef visit so many tables could only tell you one thing he cares I have been a patron for almost 1 year and the food is very consistant and also runs some great specials had the bass last night and it was like eating butter try you'll like

We are big steak fans and have tried steak all over town but Carmichaels is hands down our favorite place! The desserts are wonderful as well and the comfortable atmosphere makes it a perfect place to go for any occasion.

I read the reviews before visiting Carmichael's, so at least I was warned about some things. I ordered the 8 oz Filet Mignon special with shrimp, side of cream spinach. My wife had an appetizer as her main dish; shrimp dejonge and side of the famous brussel sprouts.
Everything including service and atmosphere except the meat met or exceeded expectations. The anorexically thin piece of filet mignon on the barren plate was covered with two grilled (burnt) shrimp. My wife's appetizer came with SIX shrimp. The tab gave me sticker shock. My severly lacking "surf & turf" was $42. The next time I go, I'll get something else.

Overall, I like Carmichael's. I've been there about a dozen times and, on average, it has been very good. My problem with it is that everytime I go something is a little off. Whether it's that one of my food items is cold, the bun on my burger at lunch is stale, or the service is uneven. It's not horribly expensive, but it costs enough that I fell I should expect more. Final analysis: If you need a place to go in the West Loop and looking for a steak, check it out. But I wouldn't go out of my way to go here.

Just moved into the west loop and had a great meal service was good and the food was great I had the chicago cut and my gal pal had the chicken and is was also very good look foward to becoming a regular

Avoid this place. How do they stay in business? Further evidence that there are enough restaurant patrons city-wide to keep any generic restaurant with low quality food in business.

Their idea of a salad: An oversized wedge of very anemic iceberg lettuce SMOTHERED with creamy rancid tasting "Balsamic" dressing. OR "Cesar Salad" - wilted, flavorless greens with soggy croutons.

Their idea of presenting a steak: Cooked meat slapped onto a Denny's style ceramic plate - no garnish, no presentation skill, nada.

Their idea of "Ambience"; Greasy outdoor tables with no decor. Nothing special, just like the food (see above).

Will never go back and will never recommend to our clients.
