This authentic 1920s speakeasy on the shore of the Fox River offfers wines, microbrews, spirits, premium cigars and more. Originally Reitmayer's Beer Garden, this reputed Al Capone hideout was owned from 1917-1938 by Gladys Reitmayer and her husband, who made beer in a hidden cellar and pumped it to their Prohibition Era patrons through an intricate copper tubing system. The first floor remains as a restaurant, as it was in the '20s; the second floor, once the Reitmayers' apartment, now houses a bar with live jazz on Saturday nights.
