Price range: $$$ ($16-$25)

Originally a popular suburban spot, this vibrant Spanish restaurant has moved the party to in the South Loop. Like the Bloomingdale original, which closed in 2008, the city location serves an expansive lineup of hot and cold tapas, including traditional favorites such as jamon serranodatiles con tocino (roasted bacon-wrapped dates), gambas al ajillo (grilled garlic shrimp) and patatas bravas, as well as a selection of paellas priced per person. Tapas Valencia is the sister spot to Naperville’s Meson Sabika, and the two restaurants share an executive chef and many specialties, as well as a festive vibe. Colorful mosaic tile Joan Miro reproductions on the walls make for a lively atmosphere; sangrias, specialty cocktails and an almost entirely Spanish wine list add to the fun at the bar.
