Price range: $$ ($9-$15)

Wheatonites who have missed chowing down on tapas at the corner of Front and Hale Streets since Emilio's closed are in luck: Now open in the same address is Cafe Galicia, also serving -- you guessed it -- tapas. In fact, three guys who worked at Emilio's are behind this eatery: general manager Eddie Miguel, chef Alex Arellano and sous chef Carlos Hernandez. Scaled-back prices and bigger portions on small plates is the strategy, says Miguel, along with affordable wines by the glass, with nothing exceeding 10 bucks. Signature dishes Arellano dreamed up while working for Emilio's will feature, including bacon-wrapped scallops with sweet potato puree and grilled shrimp with crabmeat served up in a martini glass. In addition to a roster of traditional Spanish tapas, expect a few entree-sized specials on a daily basis.
