BAD SERVICE... MEDIOCRE FOOD...
By PREGO Hottie from Lake in the Hills, February 15, 2009

After making last minute plans on Valentine's Day, my boyfriend and I found that this restaurant was the only one with tables available. The waiter was nice, however not very responsive. He served us very quickly at first, but then the service slowed down. While we waited for our food, we saw one couple complain about the wait for service while another couple got up and just left. In all we waited an hour and a half for our food (didn't help that they only had one chef) which we decided to take to go and we didn't even eat at the restaurant. After returning home, we found the portion sizes to be less than an average portion. Overall, we most likely won't be eating there again.

Very good food - ambiance a bit lacking
By Sandy Eggo from Northside, December 21, 2008

Overall rating:

We went there with two couples and had a great time. Food was very good and priced well. The sangria was very good - good spices and not watered down like you'll find elsewhere. Service was very good - food was brought at a nice pace -- restaurant wasn't busy so we expected prompt service. Check it out - you won't be disappointed in the food..

Terrible experience
By theresa from northwest suburbs, November 2, 2008

It was a terrible experience and we didn't even eat there. I wanted tapas for my birthday lunch and was pretty excited to go. I called them at 10:45am asking what time they were open today, a Sunday. The man who answered the phone said 11am-8pm. We arrived there at 11:13am and the door was locked and it was dark inside. Another bad sign, it seemed like there were no employee cars around. I called back in and asked if they were opened, the man said he would be at the door in 5 minutes. I gave him the benefit of a doubt. 5 minutes later, doors still locked, lights are still off, I called back and said never mind coming to the front door we were leaving. I will never go back again, I don't care if it is the best food ever. If they can't open when they advertise they do just tell me. Don't tell me that's when you're open, tell me you're not open yet and save me the trip.

Good Food, Bad Service
By Swedish_Chef from Algonquin, September 15, 2008

My wife and I chose to visit Aroma Tapas for our anniversary yesterday and I must say that all of the positive words about their food is very much true. Unfortunately, the not-so-positive words about their service is also very much true. We ordered five tapas and very much enjoyed each one. We may have ordered one or two more had it not been for our server's apparent lack of knowledge of what was on the menu. I had looked over the menu prior to arriving and my opinion is that I knew more than the server.

Again, if service is of no consequence to you, please visit this establishment. Their menu is full of wonderful delicacies too many to expound upon here. If only their staff was as skilled in and attentive to restaurant hospitality as they are to the food this place would have very few barriers to healthy longevity & success.

Great sangria!
By Jen from Carpentersville, January 30, 2008

If you're thirsty for sangria, this is your place! We went here for a birthday celebration and had a great time. There were all kinds of interesting choices on the menu, from the yummy meatballs with goat cheese to the calamari with ink sauce. Our service was fantastic, the owner was very friendly and helpful (I haven't had tapas many times before and had a hard time making up my mind.) Great atmosphere!

Great Food and Service at Aroma
By resident from algonquin, November 17, 2007

Overall rating:

I have lived in Algonquin for about 3 years. My family and I frequent Aroma about once per month (at least) and the food is always fantastic, the service is great (I have never walked in without the owner coming up to personally greet and welcome us), and the value for the money is the best in the area. I highly recommend
