After driving by thousands of times, we decided to gave Machu Picchu a try tonight. The food was outstanding, and so was the service. It was a quiet Monday night and we were one of only a few tables of customers, but the soft latin music and comfortable atmosphere made for a relaxing experience. I ordered the filet mignon with seafood, and it was amazing. I was not expecting the seafood to be so fresh and delicious. Kudos to the owner for stopping by our table at the end of the meal to ask about our experience. Can't wait to go back on Wednesday for live music. Try the Inca Kola!

This place has great food, just as simple as that. First time trying peruvian food and I loved it. They have a lot of sea food on their menu as well as meat. I noticed a list of 6 different steaks (i love steaks). You can take people that like seafood and meat eaters to this joint and everybody wins. Will come back and bring family and friends. This place is Recommended. TIP: call ahead to reserve, I went last saturday and we had to wait 35 mts for a table of 4.

When you pass this restaurant on Ashland (a block south of Irving Park Road), you honestly may not notice it. The outside does not give a strong indication of the quality of the food and service inside.
Machu Picchu is a white tablecloth charmer with excellent South American cuisine (mostly Peruvian). I had the Seco de Cordero (lamb) entree cooked in wine and it was absolutely mouth-wateringly delicious. Others in our party raved about the Lomo Saltado (beef tenderloin) dish and the Arroz con Mariscos (seafood paella).
The service was attentive and the atmosphere, while not plush, is pleasing and cozy. It is a good date place. Bring a bottle of wine, as Machu Picchu does not serve alcohol. That, and the reasonable prices for food, help keep it affordable.

Excellent all around! Friendly, prompt service; huge portions; reasonable prices; and clean. My friend and I went on a Saturday night and started with the Tamal Peruano, which was delicious and had a bit of a kick to it. I had the Pescado A Lo Macho, which featured a huge tilapia fillet topped with a generous amount of assorted seafood (squid, mussels, etc) in a tasty cream sauce, accompanied by a moist boiled potato that was seasoned with just the right amount of butter. IIt was enough for two meals! My friend had the Bistec Apanado, which was also excellent and came in a generous portion. I tried the beverage Chicha Morada, and it was perfect! Loved the cinnamon flavor, and it wasn't too sweet. We'll definitely be back.

Machu Picchu was recommended by a Peruvian co-worker. I mentioned to her that I had a craving for Peruvian food and didn't know where to go. I couldn't be happier with the recommendation! The food was delicious! My fiancee and I shared a tilapia dish and chicken dish. Both were cooked perfectly and were full of flavor. The chicken was tender and juicy. The cilantro rice was perfect! The light and tender tilapia was complimented perfectly by the tomatoes and onion. The rice pudding and Peruvian cookie were also to die for! Not only was the food excellent but the service was as well. Our server was incredibly friendly and interested in how we were enjoying our dining experience. One of the owners also came by our table to introduce himself and ask how our experience was. This is a total hidden gem!

No matter what part of town you maybe from, I would definitely recommend any one try this Peruvian gem at least once. I often passed up Machu Picchu on Ashland ave. due to its subtle lighting and unadorned exterior structure. Although the premises may not be flashy the cuisine will definitely flare up your taste buds. The few times I visited Machu Picchu I’ve gone with a group of friends, which is great because the restaurant seems to encourage groups by providing a fairly open dining space as well as quite a few long tables. It is also set up as a BYOB restaurant, which gives everyone a chance to bring their favorite spirits to the table. My favorite items on the menu were the oysters, very tasty paella, and the delicious Peruvian steak and mariscos. I will definitely be returning to Machu Picchu. Try it with friends.

MP has the best Ceviche in Chicago. The filet mignon and the camarones al ajo are amazing. I have never left this restaurant hungry, their portion are big. I highly recommend MP for it's outstanding service and harmonious atmosphere. It is well worth the trip and is resonabily priced. The service was excellent, and we will definitely be back!! A big plus is that MP is BYOB, no cork fee.
