I am finding it more and more appealing to eat at restaurants that specialize in one or two specific items and they do them to their best, instead of trying to do everything just "okay." Lito's knows their strong suit, empanadas, and perfects them. Not only do I love the food there, but I also like their employees and how helpful they are, how they are a family business, and how clean the restaurant is. I suggest this place to everyone when they are looking for some great, inexpensive food.

So Yummy!

I love empanadas. Carnivale and Tango Sur have fantastic empanadas. So I was excited to try Lito's since all they do are empanadas. They do not diasapoint. Imagine the empanadas at Tango Sur... not magnify them 200%... These things are HUGE! I felt like I was eating a small calzone, not an empanada. I tried the beef, the chicken and the spinach/cheese and I loved all three. They have this great sauce they make themselves with cilantro and garlic... oh good God is it yummy! Great treat in Lincoln Park. This is def more of a take out place, not really intended for eat in, though there are like 6 stools along the window. LOVE IT! Will def return!

A Great Place for Blazing Hot From the Fryer Empanadas
By Jake from North Side, November 26, 2008

Lito's offers several varieties of empanadas, which typically are fried pastries filled with meat, cheese, vegetables or some combinaiton of these ingredients. My favorite empanadas at Lito's are the BBQ Chicken and the vegetarian, though some might find the vegetarian empanada bland. The young couple who own Litos (and apparently are its only employees!) are extremely nice and always seem happy.

my guilty treat

I ride my bike up to Lincoln Park just for these...the empanadas make a just-the-right-amount-of-greasy snack when you feel like something that's just a little bit bad. The storefront is crisp & clean and the owners are friendly.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while since i always drive by it but had not stopped in as it seemed that parking was always a near impossibility. I made it a mission to eat at this place and i am so glad i did. The menu is small and simple but the empanadas are outstanding...i tasted four (beef, spinach, chicken, and then the choco) - my favorite was the chicken. I also fell in love with the choco-banana empanada which was out of this world. Delicious! Empanadas are deep fried so not entirely healthy but a great indulgence. Will absolutely go back. It does take 5 minutes to prepare so keep that in mind when stopping in. Although they do have a small seating area, would recommend calling ahead if that is an option.

I discovered Lito's on accident - mjy boyfriend and I were driving by and stopped on a whim because I thought they would have dessert-type food (like carmel apple empanadas!). I ended up getting 3-4 empanadas just to try because they were so cheap. when we got home and discovered how amazingly good they were, we ended up going back in the next couple days to buy more. when i go, I buy quite a few of them and then take them to work for lunches. they are tasty fresh and heat over well. i highly recommend Lito's and wish they would open a location within a block from me - I would be there ALL the time!!

Does it get any better?!

My girlfriend and I discovered Lito's by accident one Saturday. First we tried the vegetarian empanadas and they were so good we had to try the Spinach and Cheese and those were just as good! We were still talking about Lito's 3 days later! Since then we've been telling everybody about them and tonight we went back. I had a BBQ Pork, a Beef and a Spinach and Cheese and they were ALL TO DIE FOR! If you want to try something new, GO HERE! If you don't think you want to try something new, GO HERE! If you're just in the mood to bum around, GO HERE! Trust me, you will go back for more.
