Sullivan's Steakhouse: User Reviews

Fine restaurant. The atmosphere was near perfect, the service was incredible at the table, and the food was above average size portions for this type of establishment.
On the negative side I found the girl on the front desk to be extremely rude and unaccommodating when I popped in to book a table for that evening. She had us arriving 30 minutes earlier that I wanted to dine, would not have minded so much if the restaurant had not been empty.
Yes I would more than likely dine here again but think the front of house staff at this restaurant need to offer the same level of service you get at the table. It’s the little things like this that stop customers returning again. It’s not all just about the food

The steaks are okay. The ambiance is okay. They are way overpriced in my opnion. The only good thing is that I have always had good service there.

I took my girlfriend to Sullivan's for Valentine's Day. I had not heard much about this restaurant so I was a bit nervous. However; most of the reviews I read were positive and I was very intrigued by the 1940's mantra and the jazz music with baby grand piano. Overall, I was very impressed with Sullivan's. We arrived about 40 minutes before our reservation to grab a drink and we sat at the bar on the 1st floor. The music (piano, cello) was great - very soft so you could still hear yourself talk but enjoyable. After that, we went to the cigar bar/lounge on the second floor for another drink. Again, very low key and relaxing. Although they sat us about 25 minutes after our reservation, we were ok with since it was Valentine's Day. Plus, they seemed to know their capacity limit - neither the bar, lounge, or dining areas were crowded. You could sit comfortably without people running into you which was very satisfying for me. My girlfriend got the 8 oz filet with the gorgonzola garlic butter sauce and I got the 12 oz filet with a bourbon peppercorn sauce. Both were amazing - some of the best steaks I have had and I am a big steak fan. We ordered them medium rare and they were exactly that. I could tell that the steaks were still cooking as they brought them to our table. We also got the calamari - which was a plentigul and very good. The wine selection was also top-notch. Definitely on the expensive side but for a nice night out, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended - if you have an opportunity I would check it out; even if you just sit at the bar and order with the music.

I have eaten at Sullivan's a few times and each time I find the food average and the price not worth it. Everything is a la carte and for what you pay for just a piece of meat which isn't that great doesn't make the experience worth repeating.

Horrible! For my mother's 77th birthday we wanted to take her to a nice restaurant. Apparently the staff doesn't understand the meaning of a reservation. We were ignored for several minutes when checking in. We were told to wait in the packed bar, already overflowing into the foyer. Waited 30 minutes with no place for my mother to sit, and then asked again about our table. Once more, no indication of when we might actually sit down. I didn't want my mother to be uncomfortable so we walked out and went a ½ block down to Rosebud. Very accommodating regardless of no reservation! Only a short wait and they made sure my mother had a chair to sit on while we were waiting. Rosebud food and service were phenomenal! Filet minion was wonderful! Judging by the other reviews sounds like the food at Sullivan's is marginal. Why pay for lousy food and lousy service? I highly recommend Rosebud instead.

Medium rare filet was medium, 35 minute wait WITH reservations, vegetables are all cooked "lightly", drinks were great

I wanted to take my husband out for a nice steak. I made reservations but we still had to wait 30 mins for a table. They envite you to wait in the bar, however, where the bartenders were happy to start a tab. The menu offers several choices for each course and the food is fabulous. As you walk through the dining room there's a large window through which you can observe first hand their extensive wine collection. We shared the lobster bisque appetizer which was very well made. My husband had the Mushroom Duxelles Filet Mignon 8 oz and I had the Sliced Filet with Gorgonzola Garlic Butter. They were perfectly cooked and tasted wonderful! We also shared a side of Horseradish Mashed Potatoes. I wasn't too excited about them but once they arrived and I was able to taste them I ended up really liking them. We wrapped things up with a chocolate cake/ice cream and coffee.

Brutal! Had a 1/2 hour wait with a reservation. Our table for two was smaller than the steering wheel of my car. Two 16 year old waitresses. Highly overpriced for the product.

Terrible! This place doesn't even deserve one star. Extremely overpriced and poor quality steak. Had a filet mignon that was burnt on the outside and undercooked on the inside. The quality was horrible, very tough. You can get a better, bigger filet at Lone Star for about $10 less that includes the potato. There is nothing special about Sullivans. We were seated at a table that was so small our entrees barely fit on it. I don't know how this place stays in business. It was truly one of the worst and most disappointing dinning experiences I ever had.

I highly enjoyed dining here. The atmosphere is great. The service is good. The menu is perhaps too ambitious. The stone crab claws needed to be cracked more, the fish was overdone. The steak was great though and the souffle was good. Not as good as Morton's but then whose is? Great martinis and wine by the glass. Loved the jazz music and the live combo in the bar where they sell excellent cigars. I'll be back for sure.
