Food was good and interiors very impressive. Some big $$$ was spent for the cozy lodge look. But had a problem with something very basic - the seating. Almost 90% of the seating was booth seating. The ergonomics were off, the height between the table top and the booth seat made you feel like your elbows were at your ears when eating. Okay, a bit exagerrated but that's my point. And I'm 5'-10". My poor mom said her feet didn't touch the floor. Tables were few and only for large parties. We need more tables for 4 to 6!

We've been going to Stoney River for years now, mainly because when they first opened, they offered a kids menu (they still do, although you have to ask, it's not written). Our kids loved the dinner "rolls" which are fried but wonderful. My problem is that now my kids are older and that's the only place they want to go to. And the problem is that I have completely given up trying to get a steak done the way we order it. No matter who orders which steak, they never come the way we order. We have twice ordered a "well done" children's steak, which is a thin piece of meat, but generally the kids steaks come rare. I order a filet done rare, and it's "rarely rare" and usually some of it is rare, some is well done. My husband orders a steak medium well, but his often is also part-rare and part-well done. We have had to send something back almost every time we have gone there. I have tried to stop going there, and now when I do, I order chicken!! We have stopped sending back steaks, we trade until we get it right (since the steaks generally come done "half and half" that works). The side dishes are great, the atmosphere is great. The service is mixed - there is one waiter we avoid, because he messes up, he's slow, and then he argues with us if he does something wrong!

We just moved to Deerfield a few months back. My wife and I went for our first visit over the weekend. The Shrimp appetizer is outstanding. We'll be visiting often..
