Rosebud Prime: User Reviews
We were here on a Thursday nite during the Holiday season as part of a group of four. We were promptly seated at our reservation time, and received great service from the staff that clearly puts a lot of effort into this area (I noticed any reviews to the contrary were written many months ago when Prime was still a new place). The appetizers and salads were superb, and included a great selection. Everyone was very happy with their meal. The steak I had was amazing, and my wife's tuna was truly possibly the best tuna I have ever tasted. Our whole part ywould srongly recommend Prime even in comparison to the best Chicago has to offer.

Gorgeous high-ceilinged space, but ruined by tables set extremely close to each other, servers bumped into our table (corner) throughout worklunch. Hostess was gracious, but server seemed a bit new/anxious, loud, gushy about dishes. Ordered the steak sandwich, was surprisingly bland. Friends enjoyed the corn chowder.

Not only is this lovely spot right around the corner from where I live, but it's a friendly and tasty spot for a mouth-watering burger!!! Everything else I've tried is good as well, but the burger is simply the best. The wine list is always great & sitting at the bar to eat & have some wine is always accompanied by great chats w/ the bartenders - all so friendly. This place goes to show that now matter how fancy it looks, it's the people that make a spot your fav neighborhood go-to.

First off let me premise this by saying the food was amazing, some of the best steaks my wife and I have had. We arrived on time and were seated immediately. The restaurant has an interesting decor and layout, but the tables are big and the seats are comfortable. I am guessing the server we had was new or in training, because from start to finish he was an example of how not to perform on the job. But we did not let this ruin our great meal. When the server first approached the table he asked us if we would like a drink. This was a first for us, because usually a few menus are presented along with a wine list. Very rare to have to request a wine list at a fine dining establishment. The bread choices are excellent. After ordering our wine we were finally brought menus. I was also a bit surprised that nobody asks if it is your first time dining there, and maybe suggest a few of the restaurant's well known dishes. We ordered the lobster cocktail to share, and I ordered the corn chowder while my wife ordered a house salad. The lobster cocktail was well prepared and presented, very nice start. The chowder was excellent and a perfect size. Now I noticed the server helping the table next to us wrote everything down, but our server did not. I have worked part-time in a bar for years, and know it is impossible to remember everything all the time. My wife's salad never came. Instead of asking them to hold the steaks while she ate her very late salad, we asked them to forget the salad and bring out the steaks. The server stated to me "I apologize for that, and I shall make it up to you with a dessert." My Chicago Ribeye bone-in was perfectly prepared and one of the best cuts of meat I have eaten. My wife's NY Strip was also incredible. The yukon mashed potato side was amazing, witha nice crispy finish to the top. The one item we ordered which we really disliked was the green beans amandine. It was inedible, tasting of pearl onions and excessive burnt olive oil. I would think finishing it with just a dab of butter and a bit of minced garlic would go a long way. Skip the oil and onion, because the flavor is bad. For dessert, which we were shocked to find on our bill but said nothing as this was our first time, we had the trio of creme brulees. very well prepared and I highly recommend this dish. Drinks were great, from her wine to my manhattans. We will surely return for the amazing food, but hope to have a new server on our next visit. The food is worth the price.

Nice ambiance, classy feel. Flowers were delivered to my table as requested and server was excellent but then it all went down hill from there. Service was sooo slow and my $45 steak was just a little medium on the outside and red and raw inside and cold. The garlic spinich was tasteless and under-cooked. Took the food home and cooked it the next day and it was excellent. My wife said her steak was excellent but we wouldn't go again.

Zero ambiance (8 people at 9pm), I know that it is a new place but the server indicated that it was bad career move for him. (!! GOOD FOR HIM !!, not so good for my party). Food was good but it did not make up for an overall a bad attitude, uber-pretentious wine list, overpriced! I love the Rosebud but this could be the thorn in side.
Report This ReviewOutstanding! Rosebud has struck gold again! This is the most beautiful restaurant in Chicago!!! The bone in filet is awsome! Service was great. Nice wine selection. Dissapointed in the deserts. Looking forward to coming back! Thanks Rosebud!!
Report This ReviewLoved it!!
Report This ReviewHad a delicious lunch upstairs where it was quiet and intimate. The decor is elegant. We especially enjoyed Rosebud's winning cheeseburger, salmon salad, and tender and tasty steak. Lunch prices are very reasonable and the service is impeccable. We will definitely return when we visit Chicago again.
Report This ReviewWent back with colleagues on 8/2. Steak salad was unavailable (no steak - how is this possible?!). One person ordered a cup of soup, one ordered a bowl of soup. They came in the same mini-tureen, except one was half full. Looked really goofy. All of the salads except the Nicoise were small. Room was full this time and very loud.
