First the good -- The dark, stylish and spacious dining room and lounge create an exciting and dramatic ambiance. The evening held a lot of promise as we were seated in one of the comfortable, horse-shoe booths, and we had high expectations. Those expectations were dashed pretty quickly when our server arrived and he demonstrated such difficulty understanding our drink orders and questions. He was focused on pimping certain specials and getting us to order appetizers and drinks (Even so, he was flummoxed when we ordered a bottle of Zinfandel). And when one of us ordered our prime rib medium rare, he only caught the word "rare" and brought out a bloody piece of meat which still had a pulse. Now, I am NOT a xenophobe, but at a high end restaurant in the middle of America, I really do think it is a reasonable expectation to have servers who can understand English and answer simple questions about the menu. Overall, the food was adequate. One member of our party raved about the bone-in filet she ordered, but for the most part, we were merely satisfied. After we declined to order desert, our server disappeared, and we finally had to send out a party of bus boys to hunt him down so that we could get the check.

When my husband and I need a local steak fix Pete Millers is the first place that we think of. We have had good experiences in all seating venues. The most surprising value is the hamburger in the bar listening to the live entertainment (Tumbleweeds). As mentioned in an earlier post, it is amusing the former leisure suit crowd making their moves. Service has been hit or miss but not a deterrent to returning.

I had a similar experience like yellow's. Server never came by. I was very surprised that there was no manager presence. We went to the host stand to ask for a manager but there was no one there too!!! Needless to say we will not be back.
Report This ReviewI really like this resturant, the food is great, the atmosphere is nice. However the last time I was there my boyfriend I a were seated, the busboy gave us water and bread, and then literally we sat there for 20 minutes, after that we left. There is no bad service as bad as no service. This place usually isn't like this and I will go back, it will just not be so soon.
Report This ReviewTerrible service. Mediocre food. They can not even make drinks well.
Report This ReviewI have eaten in Wheeling and Evanston and the bone in filet is the best steak anywhere hands down. Grilled to perfection every time. Great room and service. I have also visited after a movie to enjoy live jazz and a nice big desert at the bar. Very fun even for a non-drinker.
Report This ReviewMy husband and I visited a few weeks ago while the weather was still somewhat warm and able to sit outside...overlooking Milwaukee avenue. Appeared to be a place where older individuals are on the prowl. Lamb was horrible, first time I've ever had to send food back. Took 20 minutes for new steak, husband by then either had cold steak or ate without me. Inept service in a cheesy suburb.
Report This ReviewI was a guest in a party of six last Saturday night. Drinks arrived on time and nicely done, but all down hillfrom there. We ordered steaks and a large chopped salad for the table. The steaks arrived before the salad. The waitress apologized profusley and said she have on out "right away" and we believed her. After awhile, a salad appeared but it was a caesar not the chopped we ordered. By that time we were half way thru the steaks and decided to pass on the salad. The waitress came by the table three to let us know the management had agreed not to charge us for the salad.
My bone in rib eye was average at best, tough and grisly and poorly prepped for the grill.
Lots of better places around for the price.
Report This ReviewI love that fact that you can spend 10 bucks on meal here - a descent meal, or 50 bucks. It's up to you. They have great burgers and salads, and also great prime steaks and lobster tails. The bartenders are some of the best around and make good strong drinks. This place just opened a big outdoor patio with tourches & fireplaces a huge bar and outdoor flatscreen TV'S. It's so cool out there. They have couches around the fireplaces. I read another review here about the valet parking and I don't know what they were referring to because I always self park. I have never used the valet service here! It's a GREAT place.
