I Thought this was a steak house...

Within the last month I have dined twice at the Lombard location. Once for an anniversay and another just for a casual dinner. Both experiences were terrible. My first experience I ordered the delmonico steak which is suppose to be the most flavorful steak due to the marbeling. I asked for it to be charred and served Med Rare. My steak came out well done, it was tough and completly flavorless. I am not someone who returns food and complains because I am in the restuarant business myself but, if I had a customer that ate 2 bites of their steak and did not want to wrap it up, I would of questioned my customer if everything was alright with their dinner. The server was completly oblivious, not to mention extremly slow. SO ok, 2 weeks later I have to return for an anniversary party and I walk in there with an open mind. I order lamb chops this time around. I request them to be cooked the same way...Med Rare and Charred...Guess what, 2 of my chops came out Well done and the other 2 med well. I am a huge fan of meat and when you are spending $45.00 on a piece of meat you would hope an establishment that prides themselves on their steaks could actually know how to cook a steak! I ended up wrapping up my food and sending it home with a friend that can eat their meat well done. That was my last experience with Captial Grill. There are a million better steak houses that I would rather give my $100.00/person too than Captial Grill.

Lovely!! Everything...from the discreet, knowledgable service to the tasty, perfectly prepared food. The Halibut served with Crawfish sauce was divine! As was the sweet corn side. Try something exciting from their drink list, so so yummy.

Birthday Celebration Dinner
By Naper from Naperville, August 5, 2008

On Friday, August 1, my wife and I celebrated her birthday at Capital Grille in Lombard. Without exception, this was one of the best dining experiences we have ever enjoyed. From the moment we entered the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by the hostess and directed to a very private, rose pedal covered table (without any prompting from me). The grand entrance was only surpassed by phenomenal service (David was our waiter) and great food. My wife and I have eaten at the leading restaurants in the Chicago-land area, not to mention many fine establishments in the world, and agreed this was one of the best service and dining experiences we had ever enjoyed.

Finally, a steakhouse that delivers in the suburbs

My wife and I went to Capital Grille for a nice weeknight evening out and discovered that this restaurant backed up its "premier steakhouse" prices with excellent service, rare attention to detail, and solid food quality. The crabcake appetizers were moist and sizeable, and we both enjoyed the tomato and mozzarella salad. My steak was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious, while my wife left nothing but shell on her whole lobster dinner. Our server was very attentive, and had good recommendations on the menu and the wine list. A manager also came by and asked us how things were. Overall, we were very impressed and will make this a regular stop. If you want to be really catered to, I suggest going during the week. Expect this to be a very busy restaurant on the weekends.

I loved the Capital Grille

Let me start out by saying that I'm not generally a fan of chain restaurants - I like to find the little local places. However, my mom and I were shopping at Yorktown and found ourselves hungry for dinner. I knew Capital Grille had steaks, so we decided to try it out. GREAT decision! I ordered the filet, medium well - and it actually came out cooked medium well which is a victory in my book, so that was a good start. Our steaks had great flavor - one of the best that I've had, and I have been to some great steakhouses. The sides were giant - too big for the two of us to finish- but very well prepared. Everything we had was absolutely delicious, and Frank, our server, was fantastic. The Capital Grille does come with a high price tag, but it was definitely worth it in my opinion. I will be going back.

A terrific evening

Had dinner there on a busy Thursday night with my wife and mother. We had an 8pm reservation and were seated promptly in one of the side rooms. My mom had the double-cut lamb chops, my wife and I both had the dry-aged sirloin. Beverly, our server, was very pleasant and helpful throughout the meal and picked out a very nice Zinfandel for us. The steaks were just great - medium rare with an even char over the entire steak. Dry-aging is the way to go. The lamb chops were excellent as well, my mom kept talking about them the rest of the week. Although on the pricey side, it was one of those rare dining experiences that leave you in a truly euphoric mood.

After dining at every other restaurant to pop up in the Lombard/Oakbrook "corridor", I was thoroughly amazed at my experience at The Capital Grille. Amazing service, even better food. It's about time we got a restaurant of this caliber in the suburbs!!

We had appetizers and dinner....

We had appetizers and dinner. My husband had the boiled kobe steak and I had a Ribeye. Both of our steaks were tough and mine was full of grizzle, at least 1/2 of it. Had to trim each piece. They did take them off our check, but would think their steaks were of a higher quality. Great atmosphere, service and appetizers!

We celebrated my husband's birthday...
By Ann F from Westchester, IL, February 28, 2007

We celebrated my husband's birthday at the Capital Grille. We had a wonderful experience. We sat in a semi-private room, served a glass of champagne to start and he was handed a card from the staff, which I thought was a nice/thoughtful touch. Our server was wonderful, very knowledgeable of the wine and dinner menu and courteous. We split the spinach salad and mac & cheese w/ lobster. Very good! I had the kona crusted sirloin, which was way too much meat for me and not as tender as the filet, which my husband had. They also gave us a complimentary chocolate cake w/ fresh raspberries. Delicious!
This was a bit expensive, but I thought it was great and worth the price for a special occasion.
