Bubba Gump is just awful

I don't know if as I've grown older if my taste buds have grown more sophisticated or what? That said my meal, which consisted of Dumb Luck Coconut Shrimp and Hush Pups, was just awful. The Dumb Luck Coconut Shrimp was so over seasoned and cooked that it retained very little shrimp flavor. The Hush Pups didn't taste even remotely of seafood and had the consistency of deep friend oatmeal. My girlfriend, who took the safe path and ordered a cheeseburger, felt the same about Hush Pups. I know, if wanted good seafood then I should have gone somewhere else but I was curious, hungry and was seeing a show at Navy Pier, so I figured what the heck. The service was good, so I’ll give them that.

Dined here with some friends on one of the last warm days of 08. We all live in the neighborhood and it was a beautiful day so we thought, why not stroll to the Pier. Bubba's is right at the beginning and it's a festive atmosphere. Our wait was short but you really have to go at non peak times to avoid a big wait. The food is as good as it should be for this type of restaurant. Everything is big; drinks, portions, atmosphere.. They have some really fun cocktails that come in festive glasses and the service was fast and attentive. It's a great place to go for fun and to feel like you are on vacation if you live in the city.

Bubba Gump is not all its cracked up to be when it comes to the food. I could have cooked better shrimp at home! However, the cocktail sauces are good and the service is great.

This place is GREAT! Responding to the other review, where will you find a seafood restaurant for $8 an entree in the downtown area, the prices are reasonable being that your in Navy Pier. Bubba Gump has really great service, I've been there several of times and have had a memorable experience each time due to the staff. Its one of my husband and I favorite restaurant. In the summer time you can sit outside and enjoy the view of Navy Pier. If anything try the Hush Puppies (really awesome)

The biggest problem with this...

The biggest problem with this place is the price. Bottom line is, the food's not bad...but no way is it worth what they ask for. It should be priced around $8 an entree, then it would compete in the bar food category, and it's decent enough. But why anyone would pay over $12 for anything at Bubba Gump's is beyond me. Get off Navy Pier and go to a real restaurant. So that's my review - competitive compared to bar food, but they price themselves out of that category, so I'll have to say this place sucks. It is also very cheesy.

What is wrong with these...

What is wrong with these people?! I had the greatest expereince there and I didn't even know I liked shrimp. The service was outstanding, the facility - immaculately upkept and a fun atmosphere for the whole group. Plus - I loved the cocktail sauce so much that I walked out with 2 jars for my own personal stash. I would top off any day at navy pier with a trip to Bubba Gump!
