We are new to the area and hungry for some real seafood like we had in our previous home in South Carolina. Since Bob Chin's always appeared busy, we thought the food must be great and the restaurant must serve high quality seafood. We thought wrong! My lobster was undercooked and split poorly so the green stomach contents were smeared over the entire thing. The rest of the meal was cold (grilled shrimp, potatoes) and a simple salad was extra. My husband's crab legs were good, but definitely not worth $40 in portion size or quality. In this day and age I expect to be able to get seafood away from the coast, particularly from a restaurant that brags about its selection. The tables were crowded in together, and there was no atmosphere whatsoever. It was like eating at a cheap buffet, for bistro prices. We will certainly never return.

I went to Bob Chins for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and found it to be a great experience! The atmosphere was very laid back, but our server was fabulous! And yes, the food is a bit pricey, but seafood always is. We had the Peppercorn Seared Ahi Tuna, Asian-style Sea Bass and Dungeness Crab w/ Prime Strip Steak- it was absolutely delicious! Regarding the comment about having table clothes and being a fancier dinning experience, evidentially there was a location in Chicago that opened up a few years back, and those owners tried to make the place more extravagant- it only lasted a couple of years due to lack of business. The true Bob Chin's atmosphere is exactly the way the Wheeling location is set-up. (And if you want an even better dinning experience, get a Mai Tai- AWESOME!!!)

I am very surprised by some recent negative reviews. Are these for real! Bob's still has the best fish and crab in the Chicagoland area. Someone noted that the place has changed and now has laminate tables, no table clothes, no napkins, etc. It doesn't sound like they had been to Bob's before though, as this has always been the case! It's not big on frills, true, but I go there at least once a month and the fish and crab have always been top quality and prepared just right. I made several recent visits for the Copper River Salmon (which is seasonal). Best fish I've ever had. The best servings are simple at Bob's. The fish is so good I just have it char-grilled and it's fantastic. My wife and I were there last Sunday and had the Alaskan Salmon and Florida Stone Crab Claws. Both were great! A few oysters to start, a few Mai-Tais, and you have a great meal. Yes, it's not cheap, but getting fresh top-quality seafood (especially in the mid-west) costs a little green. We've gone to many of the best fish places in Chicago and surrounding areas and have not found a better place for simply prepared top quality seafood.

Wow, we were truly disappointed and have to say will never go back. The lobster was a complete mess. They brought out in this horrendous excuse for garlic butter sauce and the king crab legs were watery and tasteless. We paired it up with a newyork strip steak and that was ineditable. Left most of it.

Should of known something was up when it was comletely empty on a Friday early evening.

It had been a few years since we had visited Bob Chinn's-and we were shocked at the changes. Apparently, they have went through recent management changes. Laminate tables set too close and crowded, no tablecloths or napkins, over priced -mediocre food and drinks-made for a disappointing evening. Fortunately, we went to Bob Chinn's before we were expecting out of town guests-and chose another area restaurant for our night out with them. It is a shame. This used to be a great place.

Worst food I ever tasted - stale oil, cold fish and unclean atmosphere. Though, the server was friendly...I was thrilled with quality of service or food...I would go to Pappadeaux or other sea food rest or even Panda Express for this over hyped not to the par food.

This is a restaurant in an odd location, but none the less an amazing restaurant. The food was absolutely incredible and service was by far the best! A perfect date place, a perfect family place, and a quality casual night out! It ranges from business casual to just plan casual. Don't let the attire fool you about the restaurant. If you haven't yet experienced Bob Chinn's....go there now!

I have been going to Bob Chin's for many years and always leave satisfied and the food is always fresh. The oysters that they have are one of the best and most fresh oysters that I have ever had. I highly recommend any of the crabs or the lobsters, they are very delicious. Although one certain night’s lines to get in can get very long, it is definitely worth the wait. Not to mention the service there is great. Overall this is my favorite restaurant and always the number one place I choose to go when I have the opportunity.

I have been going to Bob Chinn's since I was in like 6th grade and it has always lived up to my expectations. My husband and I just went last night and we haven't been there in like 4 years because we moved to the city, but it was my birthday and that's where I wanted to go. It is still the excellent service and food it has always been and it always brings back fond memories from when I was younger. The crab legs are so worth the price and their service just gets better every time I go there! I highly recommend this place and for those who wrote poor reviews on here just have no clue and obviously don't know what a good restaurant is! They probably think that Chili's is an excellent restaurant!
