A few weeks ago, we (me and 2 friends) decided to have a bit to eat before we hit the club. I usually hate eating with these 2 friends because they are terrorits to go asnd eat with. They’re never happy with anything. But they were happy when we left.
I decided to write this ‘cause I was searching for directions to a restaurant and remembered what a great experience that I had at this place.
Let me say that the best part about this place is the service. Our server was very knowledgeable (my friend asked him questions about almost everything on the menu)
and patient with my friends who knew nothing about wine and probably spent about 10 minutes just going through the wine list with us.
Usually with places like this, the waiter gets kind of snotty if you only order appetizers late at night, but ours didn’t bat an eyelash. We had the Salmon Tartar, crabcakes (some kind of almond foam on it), the green zebra roll and another roll that had this great black sesame sauce with it.
Our waiter even gave us a round of champagne at the end of the meal! He was great and (tee hee) quite charming. He had this southern accent that kinda made me feel a bit girlish. And everything he recommended was excellent. If this guy tells you to get something get it. I can’t remember his name, but he’s got a tattoo of Japanese writing on his wrist.
Even the manager, Chris came over a talked with us a little bit, just to see how everything was. He was pretty cute, too.
Waiter-man, if you’re reading this call me.

Blue Water Grill is just about perfect. The last time I was there was for New Years Eve when they had a special menu. I had the sushi, which is hands down the best I've ever had, and my fiancee had a seafood dish (I can't recall the fish she had). Her dish was excellent as well.
The interior is gorgeous, it is luxurious but not presumptuous or arrogant. Our server was good, very knowledgeable, timely, but just a little arrogant. I've been to a few high end (not Blackbird-high-end) places around Chicago, including Mortons, Smith and Wollensky, and Erie Cafe, but I'd recommend Blue Water Grill over all those places (though, admittedly, in the summer, its nice to have a great steak outside on the river at Smith and Wollensky).

Upon entereing it felt modern and open, places to sit in two rooms and I noticed stairs but didn't know if that provided seating for large parties or maybe a VIP area-
Menu had a sushi, main entree and raw bar section-
My husband and I both ordered the Sauteed Mahi Mahi; served in a large bowl with lobster miso sauce with lobster and shrimp wantons and covered in tasty mushrooms-I highly recommend this dish to anyone-I believe it was $27, pretty average for seafood in Chicago-
We did have an appetizer of crab cakes, there were 2, on the smaller side, white fresh crab meat with a beet sauce on the side, they were $12-
I would go back, but I almost feel the menu is limited in a way, I don't like salmon or tuna, so thank goodness they had Mahi Mahi-No pastas, which suprised me-I could see having a very light seafood pasta in a lemon wine sauce, but nothing like that was offered-
They have an interesting dessert menu, but I am finicky and just wanted a simple dessert nothing so odd it that makes me think, no thank you-
I would go again-Yet I must say our waitress seemed pre-occupied with a large table, other than that a good experience-

Went here at about noon on a Sunday with a bunch of girls for brunch. The menu was fabulous (entree orders), it came with a free drink (including mimosas), and our server(s) were friendly, fun, and eager to please. Each entree for brunch was around $8. It was just so reasonable for such a modern elegant atmosphere.

Lauren was a great server. It's unfortunate that so many reviews have noted bad service. This was our first time at Blue Water Grill and our server Lauren was perfect. The food was awesome. All in all it was a great time. Ask for Lauren's section when you make your reservation!

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Blue Water Grill on Friday night. I was very skeptical when the evevnt mngr, Dave said they had the best sushi in the city. Just a shameless plug for an item they are trying to push. We ordered 2 Green Dragons for our group of 8 to go along with other starters. After the first piece, I was hooked. I reached for a 2nd piece before even mentioning my instant love love affair. When it waas all said and done, we had ordered a total of 11 Green Dragons for the table!!!!!! Everyone at the table agreed it was the best sushi that had tasted in a long time if not ever. I highly recommend trying the Green Dragon next time you visit, Better yet, make a special trip just for the Green Dragon, it is well worth it.

I recently dined at Blue Water Grill this past weekend and once again a Great experience. However, checking in can give you the wrong impression of the resteraunt. The host taking our name was just flat out rude, and i noted it wasnt just to my husband and I, it was to everyone. The Host with the poor attitude should not be checking in guests guests, it gives the resteraunt a bad name. The rest of the staff were so welcoming, our server was great. He was very attentive and was very knowledgible of the menu. It was great to see the manager personally coming up to see how our meal was. The Sushi is great as well as the scallops. Overall a wonderful experience. I will be going back.

It's been a while since last I was in Blue Water and I really liked the updates the chef has made to the menu. I was in saturday night and had to have the sushi because last time it was great. Once again, delicious! I also tried the Pancetta Wrapped Tuna-- awesome! The service was as great as I remember-- our server was polite, attentive, and cute (that never hurts)! I was just as impressed this time as I was before and now I can't wait to go back. Keep up the good work!!!
