I had breakfast at Tre Kroner in their upstairs dining area, which was cozy and nicely decorated for the holiday season. I ordered a hot chocolate, lemon danish and belgian waffle. The danish was good without being too sweet or too tart. I have had many a belgian waffle, and although theirs was good topped with strawberries, bananas and whipped cream, it didn't stand out from anything you could get at an IHOP. The prices were decent; overall I spent about $15 for an enjoyable breakfast and a welcoming atmosphere.

I had known about this...

I had known about this restaurant forever because I live in the neighborhood, but I never had the guts to go in. I finally made my way into the quaint, corner restaurant with a large group for breakfast. We were escorted upstairs to the private dining area, where the homey atmosphere warmed me up. We were all attended to immediately and the waitress was punctual and courteous to all our needs. I ordered the french vanilla hazelnut danish that was ABSOLUTELY DIVINE! It was flaky and slightly warm and it was great. I also ordered the classic belgian waffle that was served with a topping of strawberries, bananas, and whip cream. Although the portion was more than generous, the waffle was slightly overdone and had a burnt aftertaste. For about a $11 tab, including tip, however, this restaurant was a great choice.

I went to Tre Kronor for breakfast with a bunch of classmates. I ordered the oatmeal with brown sugar while one of my friends had a cinnamon roll. She didn't like her cinnamon roll so I offered to eat it... it was sour! It came with a lemon sauce (this wasn't noted on the menu, nor did the waitress bring it up until after we had started to eat it). The oatmeal was sour as well. I had to pour the entire dish of brown sugar in it as well as a lot more of the sugar on the table.

Although I wasn't a fan of the food, the restaurant had a nice atmosphere and friendly service. We were seated right away and the waitress was able to take down all of our orders.

The "homey" atmosphere could be noticed once you walked in the door, with recent holiday decorations scattered throughout the room, a fireplace, soft soothing music playing in the background, as well as many welcoming faces smiling at you. While the service was worthwhile, I wish I could say the same about the food.
Part of the problem, I believe, has to do with expectations. Having eaten a cinnamon roll, French toast, and pancakes all before, there are certain tastes that you expect. Tre Kroner, a Swedish restaurant, did not fit those expectations. The cinnamon rolls with lemon icing tasted sour, the French toast with orange peels and parsley inside looked suspicious, and the pancakes were so thin that they left you wondering why you paid for them.
Obviously, judging by the popularity of the restaurant, there are many that enjoy Tre Kroner.

My girlfriends and I have been coming here every year in December for our holiday dinner together for four years now. The food is excellent. The room is nice and service is very friendly. The prices are amazing. We almost always choose the duck and the beef stew. We also love the lemon tart and the chocolate mousse. The only problem is it is the exact same menu every year. Traditions are great but it doesn't make me want to visit at any other time of the year.

We arrived at 12:30 and didn't leave until 3:30! This was on a weekday. We were told a 20 min wait and then was asked to wait in the shop next door. After 45 mins we were seated at a small table right next to the window where they pick up the food. They pointed to the table and didn't bother to take us there. Then after waiting 20 mins to order and another 45 mins the waiter came by to say they lost the ticket! We got to listen to the wait staff complain about the customers while we starved. They at least offered a free danish for the lost ticket. It was definitely not worth the wait and appears to be very disorganized.

The breakfasts here are astonishingly good, as are the prices. The service has been pretty great, except once when it was just mediocre. They always serve a lot of dishes not on the menu. Their specials list is likely longer than their menu. Dinner is pretty good too. I wasn't sure I would like based on the menu descriptions, but was pleasantly surprised. It's also byo. The desserts are great as well. Highly recommended.

This place is great. Food is simple and delicious, really fresh and beautiful. Had gravlax, trout special, husband had onion soup and swedish meatballs. All of it was so good. And the blueberry soup for dessert was fantastic - really different and interesting. Atmosphere is cuty and cozy, staff is friendly. Will definitely be back for dinner and look forward to trying it for breakfast. And its BYOB so a great dinner is a real bargain.
