Not allowed access to the patio on a Sunday
By pozboys from Renaux Manor, August 6, 2009

After arriving , on a nice Sunday drive arround the tri-city area, we endvored to enter this establishment, in the hopes of being able to enjoy the patio area, which ajoins the Fox River.Entering, there was no one at the hostess area, and the bar, was empty. We desided to go to the patio, where we were the immidiatly "accosted" by whom I can only assume was the hostess, and asked the nature of our buisiness. When we replyed, that we wanted to sit on the patio for drinks and whatever, we were immiadiatly told that we could not sit (on the empty patio} unless we were ordering dinner. It being a Sunday, and there not being a large contigent of patrons, I thougt that a very strange statment! Needless to say, We left, and went to the Mill Race Inn, where we were promply seated, and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon, without the questioning and probing of our motives for patronage of thier establishment! I expect that this will be anouther one of our failed buisiness ventures in St,Charles, especially when treating potential customers in this respect. I can only say ,Good Luck!!

Added to our list

Our first visit but not our last. Service was prompt and attentive. The four of us enjoyed our food selections. Each felt our seafood or beef was perfectly seasoned and well prepared. Nice wine list. With exposed brick walls it can be a bit noisy. Can't wait to enjoy the outdoor deck by the river this summer.

great dinner
By grmamu from stc town, February 27, 2009

Three of us had fish and it couldn't have been better. The cedar planked whitefish was great and I had the chad with the carmelized fennel, grilled asparagus. very very nice. Reasonable prices. We sat by the window overlooking the river, so catching the reflection of light off of the river, etc was the only thing that reminded me of the old Erik & me. This is a different place. I'd say much better-- but the new is so different from the old that a comparison doesn't really hold. Yes, I did need to wait a bit for the waitstaff, for our check, but dinner was run out hot and promptly.

Who's in charge?
By Gigi from Chicago, February 19, 2009

Bring back Chef Leon! The menu doesn't reflect his specials anymore. Our server said Sage is under new management and Chef Leon is out. Unbelievable. They must not be using his recipes because what we ordered didn't taste the same. Too bad. We spend easily $180 to eat here but no more. If anyone knows where Chef is at, please post it!

Horrible service

Went here to try out something new. Would never come back!! The food was very cheap which was nice. But the service was cheap and non existent!! If you enjoy not having your drink refilled and your order messed up... this is the place to go! Also if you enjoy waiting for an unreasonable amount of time for service, this is the place to go! Very sad since I am a St. Charles native and like to support the local establishments!!! Save yourself the trip!!

Fantastic!

Sage Bistro was formerly Erik and Me. They opened in April 2008 and have been going strong every day! Their menu has something to offer for everyone. Never was a salmon lover but Chef Leon's Salmon is absolutely incredible! Exceptional wait staff and service. Very friendly, informative and helpful. The bar area is comfy for dining and/or socializing. This is a great venue for outdoor dining. Music on the weekends on the deck as well. Fabulous wine list. Visit them at www.sagebistro.net for lunch and dinner menus. I could go on and on, but I suggest you experience this amazing restaurant yourself! You'll be glad you did!!

trio My favorite place just keeps getting better. A local stop with a City atmosphere. The food is eclectic and all outstanding. The wine list is the perfect blend of well known favorites and little known gems from all over the world. The servers are knowledgeable and will offer perfect pairings for any entree. My personal favorites : The BEST Mussels in the Valley, Halibut (Tuscan style), or Linguine with seafood. Meat eaters will love the Fillet or the Short Ribs. For comfort the mini meatloaf with mac and cheese is unreal. Save room for dessert. The Creme Brulee trio or the Chocolate Bread Pudding will cure your craving. From 4-7 in the bar, Tues. Martini specials, Wed. 1/2 price apps., Thurs. $.50 oysters, Fri. peel and eat shrimp, Sat. Wine Flight specials. This is the PERFECT SAT. NIGHT DATE PLACE !! Al Fresco dining weather permitting with live entertainment Fri. and Sat. Great for Girls night out any time. Hope I see you there.

Incredible Dining Experience!
By patman58 from Mill Creek, June 27, 2008

Overall rating:

This restaurant was formerly Erik & Me and one of my wife's and I favorite restaurants. After visiting the new remodeled Sage we now have a new favorite. I've never been a fan of fish and was recommended to try the Chef Leon Salmon , INCREDIBLE! We've been back several times and
the service and ambience has been exceptional. The deck overlooking the Fox River is tranquil and adds to the dining experience. Our servers have been very interactive and knowledgable of all the items on the menu. Wine recommendations and pairings have also exceeded our expectations. Portions were large and desserts are some of the best I've discovered. My recommendation is to give this establishment a try and experience what dining is all about. QUIET, COMFORABLE AND A TOTAL VALUE!
