Healthy Food Lithuanian Restaurant

Neighborhood: Bridgeport/Sox

With plenty of artwork on the dark, wood-paneled walls, and fresh carnations on each of the 14 tables, Healthy Food sets an inviting room. Breakfast is the main attraction, with American as well as Lithuanian favorites featured on the menu. The restaurant itself is a throwback to the lunch counter-style establishments so popular in Chicago during the early part of the century. Indeed, the restaurant has been operating for more than 55 years, and is so well preserved that a visit to view the vintage fixtures and decor alone is worth the trip. After soaking in the atmosphere, however, try a steaming stack of blynai or a hearty lunch of kolduan along with fresh bread and coleslaw.
