Sloppy Jo's Lunchroom

Sloppy Jo's Lunchroom

733 St. Johns Ave., Highland Park
847-266-8687

The eats here are simple and cheap (nothing exceeds a few bucks), including the namesake Sloppy Jo, tuna salad sandwiches and hot dogs. You can even score a Fluffernutter sandwich or a Sloppy Jo Frito Pie, or pick up old-fashioned candy to end your picnic on a sweet note.

Trattoria Valle D'Itria Ristorante Italiano & Pizzeria

581 Roger Williams Ave., Chicago
847-266-0600

Brick-oven pizzas and pasta dishes dominate at this traditional Italian trattoria, which opened recently in the former Tapis Rouge address.

Ravinia BBQ & Grill

592 Roger Williams Ave., Highland Park
847-433-1111

Located just a few blocks away from the Ravinia Metra station, this is an easy pre-concert stop. Call after 3:30 p.m. to place a pick-up order from their carry-out menu, which includes fried chicken, burgers and a mean barbecued pork sandwich.

Prairie Grass Cafe

601 Skokie Blvd., Northbrook
847-205-4433

This Northbrook eatery offers a picnic to-go program tailored especially for Ravinia-goers, including cheese platters, veggies with goat-cheese dip and summer tomato salads for light noshing. More substantial picnic meals include herb-roasted chicken, tuna salad sandwiches and ham and cheese on a baguette with mission fig compote. 24-hour notice required for orders. It's a 10-minute drive from the park.
