The reel deal
Reel Club, a new steak and seafood concept by Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, opened in November 2007 in the former Papagus address at Oak Brook Center. The exec chef behind this new venture is Mychael Bonner, who debuted LEYE's Di Pescara in Northbrook back in late 2005. The focus here is what we'll call the Oak Brook special: dry-aged steaks and seafood, with a higher price point than Di Pescara, whimsical plating and semi-private spaces for groups, says LEYE chairman Rich Melman. For dinner, check out entrees such as Chilean sea bass and Alaskan king crab, plus decadent side dishes such as truffled mac and cheese. For lunch, you'll find more casual options like fish tacos and steak sandwiches. Belly up to the bar in the Barracuda Lounge for cocktails crafted with organic maraschino cherries and vodkas infused in-house, such as the hibiscus cosmo or tangerine-orange caipiruva. Alpana Singh, of course, is behind the wine list, which will include "The Reel Hot List" of 25 of her favorites, changing seasonally, plus cleverly named wine flights such as "The New Reign in Spain" or "Reds that are Green," featuring eco-friendly options.
