The pies here look great. However, the lemon meringue pie today tasted like a tin can...no lemon flavor...just a harsh metallic taste. Also, shouldn't a pie of this type have a bottom crust? Of course, it should. Mine did not. The person who cut the pie didn't bother to cut thru to the bottom of the pie, so the filling just sloshed in the container. The meringue was perfect, though. Not tough . The crust along the edge was quite nicely done. I really wanted to like this place. Maybe I'll try again. At $4.00 per slice, it should have been edible

Consistently good pie is a challenge to find in the city, but it can be found at Hoosier Mama. Their staff is very friendly and have smiles on their faces. I brought two of their pies (apple and banana cream) to a family event and they were a hit. It is worth a trip!

If you like pie then you should run, not walk, to Hoosier Mama's. We got a pie for a dinner on Friday night, and then ended up back at Hoosier Mama's on Saturday morning to get another two pies (one was no longer enough) for another dinner on Saturday. We tried the Strawberry Rhubarb, Apple Cranberry and Walnut, and Peanut Butter Pie. DELICIOUS! We can't wait for summer pies to be in season. The best pie in Chicago by far.

Best pie I've ever had. I'm so happy I ended up on their mailing list to find out about their mini Valentine's Day pies. For only $12, you got the cutest, most beautifully decorated pie for 2 that I've ever seen with a gorgeous box, bow and sweet, vintage valentine. (I'm pie-ning for you! ha!) I got the banana chocolate cream pie to share for our Valentine's Day dessert. It was incredible. The crust was buttery and flaky, the bananas super ripe and the chocolate cream and whipped cream were just the perfect amount of light and sweet. You can order their pies online and pick them up at many places in the city, so it's super convenient. Oh, and the people who run the place are great too. The whole family was there when I went to pick up my pie and it felt like such a friendly, fun place. The pie shop will be open in March, and you can bet that I'll be standing in line to be the first one in.
