Al Yeganeh, New York's real "no soup for you"-shouting "soup Nazi" (parodied in that now infamous episode of Seinfeld) has landed in Chicago, well sort of. The Original SoupMan chain, which Yeganeh founded (there are 33 outlets), has teamed up with Cold Stone Creamery to test market SoupMan soups in select stores (this location is the only Chicago area store to carry the product). Look for choices like chicken vegetable, minestrone, turkey chili and shrimp bisque in addition to the dessert lineup.
This ice cream shop specializes in custom-made frozen desserts. Behind the counter, mixmasters spread out your ice cream or sorbet on a granite slab, then beat in your choice of toppings. Everything is made on-site, from the waffle cones to the brownies and, of course, the ice cream.
