Briejo

Briejo is aiming for a mid-August opening.

This sweet 50-seat spot aims to please Oak Park locals with elevated casual eats, a swanky all-ages atmosphere, funky tunes and a blue-jeans dress code. People are already starting to pronounce this name with Spanish flair (bree-ay-ho?), but it's actually simply the phonetic "bree-joe," a made-up name that took root with owner Brigette Lytle's childhood nickname, Brie. Lytle, an Oak Park resident, has brought in two impressive Chicago names to consult on the menu: Jody Andre (Speakeasy, Tomboy) and Nicole Parthemore (She She). Tasty-sounding starters include bacon and brie-spiked crabcakes, ground lamb-stuffed portabella mushroom caps and deep-friend cheese curds with spicy tomato sauce for dipping.
