So what's a galeteria? Owner Georges Elbekai (ex Caliterra, House of Blues and Bob Chinn's) tells us these eateries specialize in roasted chicken and are popular in Southern Brazil. The all-you-can-eat prix-fixe concept, which is served family-style, features a trio of meats roasted over hardwood in a brick-oven rotisserie including: galeto al primo canto, young chickens marinated in white wine, garlic, rosemary and sage; cordeiro lamb marinated with 16 spices; and maminha, slow-roasted beef shoulder. Side dishes reflect the Italian influence on Brazil's cuisine; look choices like Parmesan-topped polenta, spaghetti with mushrooms, Madeira and shallots and roasted eggplant.
