Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab: User Reviews
I've eaten here several times and the food and dining experience was adequate, but last night's wait for an additional 45 minutes after my reservation time proved too much. I nor my clients will be back soon!
Report This ReviewWonderful atmosphere. We asked for a seat in Miami since the temps were killer in Chicago that night and it was SuperBowl weekend after all. Very nice hostess. Got a great booth which was good for my husband who has a tough time hearing in a lot of restaurants. Had the best waiter we've had in years at any place. Way to go Andy... We took his recommendations on the Bone In Rib Eye and Black Cod. The cook overseasoned the "lightly blackened cajun seasoning" but Andy was quick to fix the mistake. The sides were tasty, Jennie's Potatoes & Breaded Asparagus. This was our first visit and came highly recommended by my son. My husband said his steak was better than many he'd had at several of the other steak joints around town. All in all great way to spend a 55th birthday. 3 1/2 stars
Report This ReviewAfter getting bread and a menu, the waitress never returned for my order and avoided my attempts to get her attention. Around 3 pm on a workday, it was not busy. Although the bread was fine, the service was not. After waiting around 15 minutes for the waitress, I just left.
Report This ReviewMy 3rd time there.First time that I had a steak, amazing(bone in filet)Crab cake was also wonderful
Report This ReviewThis is a tough one - mostly pros and a couple of cons. The service was slow and easy for most of the meal, which was great since it was a special occasion and we were definitely not in a hurry. We even had a nice private booth in the corner. The food was very good - the steak was melt in your mouth good, although we did send the liver and onions back (too raw and there was no indication that it would be that way on the menu). The waiter was more than accommodating about it, which made the snails-pace service near the end dissappointing. He only seemed to have 3 tables to manage, but began to pay much more attention to the people at the next table who were obviously spending more money than we were. We had planned to order dessert - looking forward to their signature Key Lime Pie, but changed our minds because it really took forever for him to come back for that order.
Report This Reviewloved the calamari, oysters rockerfellar and shrimp de joghne. everything else was average especially the grilled tomatoes, potatoes lyonnaise. key lime pie was average. service was excellent and the bread basket was delicious!
Report This ReviewWent with a group from work for our holiday dinner. Great food that I wait for all year but the rush we felt to hurry up and finish every segment of the meal was grating. It was not relaxing at all. It was really crowded (staff was bumping up against our chairs to maneuver the dining room) and our bread basket was gone before I even had my 1st drink delivered. The staff was attentive, but in a way that was less than satisfying.
Report This ReviewWe went for a holiday party and sat in the private back room (the "boardroom"). Our server and assistant were perfect, in tune with our needs and kept the martinis and wine glasses full. The food was outstanding. I'm a vegetarian, and haven't eaten seafood in 4 years, but I had to have their crabcakes -perfectly crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. The stone crab claws and king crab legs were to die for! The swordfish was perfectly cooked and very tender for such a "steaky" fish. Will definitely return, and may have converted a die-hard vegetarian!
Report This ReviewTHIS BY FAR IS THE BEST SEAFOOD RESTAURANT THAT I HAVE HAD IN CHICAGO.THE APPETIZERS WERE DELICIOUS.THE MAIN COURSE WAS SO GOOD.THE WAIT TIME WASN'T THAT BAD.I ACTUALLY GOT A CHANCE TO SEE SCOTTIE PIPPEN.MY PARTY WERE ALSO IMPRESSED WITH THERE MEALS AS WELL.WONDERFUL FOOD WOULD RECOMMEND TO EVERYBODY.
Report This ReviewWhile its not as good as the original in Miami, this place is still one of the best places to eat in Chicago. The service is amazing. My wife had the King Crab legs. They did everything so all she had to do was pluck out the meat and they were the sweetest legs I have ever tasted. The cole slaw and Key lime pie are originals from Miami. We even had a celebrity sighting as Brian Urlacher was there. What an awesome evening!
