Seafood and Steak!

Overall the experience was good-- borderline great.

Our waitress was phenomenal! She was very knowledgable about the menu, and made sure that everything we ordered was to our liking.

The martinis are amazing -- extremely smooth, delicious, and not over bearing.
We each had an appetizer, and shared a stone crab app. which were all delicious.
We each ordered steak for our main course- my boyfriend's dry-aged new york strip was outstanding! My bone in ribeye was a bit over cooked for my liking, and did not stand up the same steak at Ruth's Chris.

However, this is a seafood and steak joint so the fact that the steaks were as good as they were was a nice suprise!

The wine we had with our desserts (chocholate pie and boston creme pie) was delicous as well.

My suggestion is if you are looking primarily for a steakhouse -- you might be slightly disapointed -- but if you are wanting to have both good seafood and steak-- you cannot beat Joe's!

Quite possibly the worst dining experience I've ever had

I've heard all the raves about Joe's, and decided to try it out when my parents came into town. First off, we were seated 45 minutes after our reservation time. It only went downhill from there. The waiter was extremely condescending, and kept touching us - it was really awkward. We ordered the 'famous' stone crab appetizer - and it was beyond disappointing. I've had my fair share of stone crab, and it is not supposed to turn into a frayed mess when you crack the claw.

Then the entrees came. My Dad decided to treat himself with a $50 filet, which one would expect to be fantastic. He ordered it med-rare, and it came out med-well or maybe even well done. The waiter even cringed when he saw it, but decided to not say anything. The fisherman's platter did not even contain all the pieces it was supposed to. There was no cod (I did not realize this until after we left unfortunately).

There were several other VERY serious problems, but I will not devulge details in fears this post may be removed (I cannot prove the 'issues', although I am certain they are true).

I felt terrible that my Dad paid $250+ for this horrendous meal, so I contacted Management in hopes they would be sympathetic to my situation. I will simply say they were rude, and in my opinion handled everything extremely poorly.

Given Joe's reputation, I would assume my experience was an exception, but I would implore you to seriously consider dining somewhere else if you are looking to treat yourself to a high priced meal.

Raving about this place!

We had an all-around fantastic time at Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak and Stone Crab. We went there for Christmas Eve, just the two of us, and had a great experience from getting our table with the Maitre'd (a little earlier than our reservation as we were early), to our wonderful waiter David Major, to the amazing food we ate! We had the Stone Crab appetizer with the green salad and the crab bisque and for entree's we had the Nantucket scallops and the crab-stuffed sole. It was all amazing! Cannot say more about the amazing wait-staff and service, even for an incredibly busy night we were never forgotten and everyone made an effort to make sure we had the best dinner. We will be back many times!

Food and Servie were great! However, very very little to choose from if you don't eat red meat or seafood. Will definately go back.

Great service, Awesome Food!

I just went to Joe's and hosted a birthday party of 12. When I arrived, I found that they do not seat partial parties, which sucked because I knew some in my party were stuck in traffic. This was the most packed Saturday they'd seen in a while and they still agreed to hold my reservation until all arrived. 45 min later, we were all there and they sqeezed us in. The manager and maitre d' were very cordial, as I treat people with the golden rule.

Our waiter, Charles, was friendly and knowlegeable. Courses arrived with perfect timing. I had some of the best scallops I've ever tasted! The majority of my guets said that theirs was the best meal they've had in some time.

Despite my guests being late, the restaurant was able to pleasingly work with me in serving 12 people- including a 2yr old and birthday on their busiest night in recent history. Did I say the food was spectacular?!

Solid Steak & Seafood Joint

Went on a Wed night and was packed as usual. The Madagasgar shrimps are amazing and they better be at $14/each. Stone crab good but almost cheaper to fly to FL for bigger, better claws. For entrees we had steak and seafood. The crab stuffed sole was bland. The dry aged NY strip was absolutely amazing but the waiter should have told us it was $56. You find out when they bring the desert menu which has the specials on back. Why wouldn't they make you aware of that. Otherwise the service was spot on. Kind of a touristy/bis\z crowd. Probably better places in city but good.

Great time..

...pricey but well worth it. The waitstaff is incredibly friendly, knowledgable and professional. The atmosphere is your classic steak house. Busy yet classy and professional.

The crab is incredible. We both go the surf and turf. It might have been the best filet I have ever had and the lobster tail was great. I can't say enough about the quality of the fish. Get the butternut squash on the side. It might have been the best thing in our meal.

For dessert we got the key lime pie and banana cream. Both outstanding. Best Key Lime pie I have ever had and I don't even like Key Lime pie.

Great Chicago spot!

We moved to chicago a year ago from britain and decided to spend our 1yr wedding anniversary dining at Joes for the first time, after randomly selecting it from a number of restaurants to try.The Maitre d' was so unfriendly, had a face on like you were walking into a funeral, his overall behaviour was so unwelcoming and he was rude.Good food but wouldn't go back there.First and last time.

I dine quite frequently at Joe's and every time it's amazing. The Florida Stone Crab is always delicate and fresh, their in house specialty Joe's Mustard dipping sauce is fantastic and adds the perfect touch. Their steaks are Prime cut, so right off the bat you know they'll be amazing and any of their dessert selections are to die for. They're known for their lip puckering Key Lime Pie (Which also comes in Martini style as well) and their Coconut Cream Pie is heaven on a plate. The atmosphere couldn't get any better, it's got every aspect of a fine dining experience without the stuffy additude. The waitstaff are attentive and very informational. Whether it be a business meeting, or a family gathering, Joe's is the perfect place to be in Chicago.

This restaurant is my favorite restaurant in Chicago. Great service. Quality, tasty steak and seafood without over-seasoning or mixing too many flavors in one dish. Great wine list. I don't like most LEYE restaurants, but this is the exception. Do yourself a favor - go to Joe's!
