I grew up eating polish....

I grew up eating polish. When i came to Chicago i was looking for polish food as good as it is back home and i found it. I have tried other places but no longer go anywhere else because Andrzej is so good. I would recommend it to anyone! The best part is how inexpensive it is for the amount of food you get.

This Polish place is such...

This Polish place is such a gem! Everything on the menu is authentic and freshly-made! The customer favorite of stuffed potato pancakes was delicious! My friend's order of sausage was succulent and all orders came with sides (choice of various salads). You get good food for cheap, what more could a foodie ask for?

The atmosphere is not very fancy. This is a no-frills place that focuses on the important thing: the product, and I love that! The service, though a little difficult (the waitress is from Poland and she's not fluent in English), it was very friendly and prompt! A definite must-return spot!

Great polish food at rock bottom prices- bring an appetite! The place is family run and your waiter is also your cook. The extremely informal dining experience makes it even more like you're eating at your Polish Grandmother's house...you just happen to get a bill.

I just returned from lunch...

I just returned from lunch at Andrzej. The atmosphere in the restaurant sucked -- four tables, very hot, and very noisy from the re-paving of Western that was happening outside the restaurant.

The food, however, was sublime! I ordered the stuffed potato pancake mentioned in the Metromix blurb. I have never had such a delicious potato pancake in my life! The stuffing, a sort of goulashy stew, was also delicious. I tasted the dumplings with mushroom sauce ordered by one of my lunch companions, and it was equally excellent. The dumplings were soft and delicous, and the mushroom sauce was creamy and rich. The food was fresh, filling, delicious, and dirt-cheap.

I was dining with four friends, two of which are of Polish descent (one of whom grew up in Poland). They vouched for the authenticity of the food, so diners need not fear Americanized ethnic food.

I heartily recommend this restaurant. However, you may want to wait until the Western Avenue road work is finished if you want a little peace and quiet while you eat.
