Pequod's Pizza: User Reviews
Pequod's Pizza
2207 N. Clybourn Ave. - Chicago773-327-1512
The good: possibly the best pan pizza I've ever had -- and I mean the traditional sense of "pan" pizza as opposed to Chicago-style "stuffed" pizza, which they did not offer. The sauce was sweet yet had a unique zing to it, the sausage was some of the best I've had on a pizza, and overall it was just quite good. Atmosphere is pretty decent with only one nod to Lincoln Park pretensiousness with the exposed brick wall.
The bad: Service was a little slow and not especially cheerful. Also, I don't understand the "burnt edge" concept. There's nothing tasty about cheese that has been reduced to carbon. It's almost like they couldn't figure out how to keep the cheese from touching the edge of the pan and scorching, so they just decided to make it a marketing gimmick. At least they give you fair warning, but it's still strange.
All in all, a good experience and I will probably be back.
Report This ReviewOrdered for pickup tonight and
we don't live near by...It sure was worth the trip!! Pizza was tasty and quite good..it's going to be our new favorite. Service was great staff was very friendly and I was greeted three times AND someone beside the cashier said "thank you, have a nice evening" The place and staff seemed very relaxed and easy going..customer seemed happy.
great pizza worst service
Report This ReviewI ordered from there last Friday and the women was extrememly rude. AND she hung up on me twice. I will NEVER go or order from there again. Sad too, it's my favorite pizza in the city. Hello Giordano's!!!!
Report This ReviewI love Pequods Pizza. That carmelized crust-yum!
If I had to sum it up in two words, these would be it-
GIORDANO'S WHO??????
Report This ReviewBest pizza in the city, both thin crust and deep crust. The newly reovated place is great and the service is fantastic. Very nice neighborhood feel when.
Report This ReviewBest deep dish in the city period.
Service is always excellent and the wait staff always remembers what we usually order. Atmosphere was a little more unique prior to the fire but we go for the food not the decor. The carmalized "burnt" cheese crust is their signature not an accident as others may not have understood. Great value for the money.
Highly recommended.
Heard a lot about this place so a group of friends and I decided to try it. It does not live up to the hype. The service was fine, atmosphere was fine, but the pizza...was very bland. The sauce was mild, the sausage had no taste to it and the crust had little substance. Maybe we went on a bad day but with all of the pizza options available in this city, I can't think of a reason to return.
Report This ReviewMy friend recommended this place to me. I had high expectations. The pan pizza is not out of the ordinary. Pretty average. The only thing really unique was the sausage topping. I thought the pizza was too doughy. Maybe I will try the thin crust next time.
