The food at Honky Tonk BBQ is delicious....plain and simple. The Beef Brisquet sandwich is my favorite with melt-in-your mouth meat...doesn't even need sauce, on a wonderful roll; the sweet potato side dish was to die for. And the country music that played the last couple of times I was there was energetic, listenable, and provided a great backdrop to the food. The restaurant itself is developing a better ambiance than it had originally, and the service is getting much better. Don't expect the smooth gentility of Carson's, but it's much better, for example, than Leon's on the south side. I'd compare the place to Smoke Daddy both in terms of the food and the environment.

The food was ok, but what was bad was the attitude I got from the owner. claiming he had been up cooking since 7 am, and none of their famous food was ready. I got home with my food, and a full slab was missing, i went back, and when i got home, my beans were not in the bag. Pretty much everything went wront that day.. Not shure why this place is award winning?? I think the best part of that meal, was the salad that my Girlfriend made to go with the meal. Peace!
