Went to yolk this morning for another delicious meal. I had the orange bread french toast which was freaking awesome, my husband had the banana foster crepes which he said were ok (the peach cobbler ones are better). This place has great service and we always enjoy it. It is not the quietest place but that's to be expected for how busy it normally is. Yum!

Awesome food, try the Cinnamon Roll French Toast. Be prepared to wait on the weekends. It has kind of an industrious feel, so it can get kind of loud, but that doesn't change the fact that the food is great.

Saturday morning 8:45am July 4. food pretty darn good. very crowded. VERY loud. 4 people breakfast was $67 including tip.

Bad food - avoid like the plague

After waiting a good 30 minutes to get a table, we finally were seated. Our waitress was friendly, considering they are essentially pushing us to order and eat as quickly as possible (to have higher turnover). I ordered coffee, which was worse than mediocre. I also ordered the Huevos Rancheros with the diced potatoes. When it finally came out, the Huevos was COVERED with jalapenos (and the menu did not indicate the dish as "Hot", as it did with other spicy items) to the point that you couldn't taste the food. Additionally, the potatoes (listed as "diced red potatoes), were worse than eating the potatoes that you can purchase in your grocery freezer section. In no way did they look like red potatoes. Horrible - will never go back. There are so many better options in Chicago!

Since Yolk opened my husband and I went once a weekend, sometimes twice. I tried to make a reservation for 15 people for my husband's 30th birthday. I even offered to make a deposit. Not only would they not make an exception to their new "no reservation" policy, they told me the best solution was to carry out (eggs???) The owner actually told me that since he serves 1200 people a weekend he doesn't need my reservation or $500 brunch bill. I would never give someone this arrogant business again. There are too many amazing brunch places in Chicago that actually value their loyal customer's business to patronize this restaurant in the future.

South Loop Gem!

I am a local (lived in the south loop since '97) and have frequented Yolk on many occasions (about 14 times) since it's opening. I a struck about the consistency of great service, great food and great ambiance - every single time, every season, every weekend. Granted there is a wait (20-30 minutes) but very worthwhile. Try not to put other nearby eateries on same scale (specifically 11th St. Diner) - they're not on the same scale (Yolk is a class act while the other one is still trying to figure out who is the customer).

We had a large group and changed our reservation size many times and the restaurant was very accommodating and even seated us early (and they were EXTREMELY busy). The service was very attentive and we got our food within 10 minutes of ordering. The food was great and fresh. I would definitely recommend.

I have been to YOLK several times and each time has been amazing. Where to start? the staff at the front desk is phenomenal, the hostess always predicts our wait time on the dot and the two young girls are incredibly efficient! i have never seen someone take credit cards and cash so fast and still be incredibly polite! And the other help upfront is such a hard worker! As for the manager...incredibly talented. He is there everyday busting his ass to get you the best service possible. One person in my party ordered her meal and forgot to ask for it without avocado...which was completely her fault and the owner did not take off the charge, which was completely understandable but he did get a little to angry for my liking! As for the wait staff, i usually have Greg who is a riot! He is so personable and i could not ask for better or quicker service. The kitchen, which you can see from the front of the restaurant is working so hard and you can tell the food is fresh! Last but not least, the matridee, if you will, he never ceases to amaze me. he is always running back and forth and "take care of you" as he says with his heavy accent. He never forgets to give the kids m&ms even if he has to lounge after us as we walk out the door. Overall i have never had a bad experience and i plan on eating everything on the menu eventually...except maybe the farm house because it sound pretty artery clogging. ..but is my husband's favorite.

The peach cobbler crepes are amazing, as was the service. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will be back.
