The rooftop in this place is phoenominal. The food was good and the service was adequate. It is a fun place to go after work and hang. This is just what the south loop /financial district needed.

Rooftop=Horrible Service!
By MotoX8402 from Jefferson Park, August 14, 2009

My friends and I visited the rooftop for lunch on a Thursday afternoon after the rush. First, the hamburger came only lettuce, nothing else. Secondly, when my friend ordered a Blue Moon, the waitress asked, "What is a Blue Moon?" Lastly, it literally took 25 minutes to get our change from the check. The waitress said that she was not able to handle the cash, the bartender had to cash out. Well..during our 25 minute wait for the bartender "to cash out", there was not a single person at the bar! HORRIBLE SERVICE!

Great Venue, HORRIBLE Management

I have been to Plymouth twice. Once with a small group, and it was ok. We did not need the misters around the outside of the outdoor bar and asked the server if they could be turned off, as it was not that warm. Reply was that the manager liked them and wanted to leave them on. That should have been the first clue. Manager refuses to turn off annoying "feature" because SHE likes them! Huh?

Second experience..there with about 30 people from work for a going away party. First, they gave us two, two top tables with seating for 4. Then when additional tables opened up and we asked to move to a larger, empty area, we were told "No, we are saving those tables for customers." Hello! What are we?...Only a group of 30 that are interested in staying here for a few hours and ordering food and drinks!!!! I tallied the total of all the tabs and it was well over $500! I guess that is not enough to get the manager's attention. The hostess also told me that they wanted to leave two tables open that were beside the seating for 9 (in a group of 30) that we already had . The hostess then asked me to keep my group out of those tables so that she did not have to yell at them! In short, a great venue, but they REALLY need a management staff that knows how to run a restaurant. Also, putting actual alcohol in an alcoholic drink is always helpful. People who get tipsy order more! Perhaps a class in Restaurant 101 would be beneficial.

Worst Meal We've Had in Chicago
By kg1985 from Evanston, July 20, 2008

We just returned from brunch at Plymouth Restaurant. We were looking forward to a cold bloody mary, a decent view, and good brunch - especially after reading the reviews. From the moment we stepped off the elevator onto the rooftop, until we walked down the stairs to the ground level, the experience just got worse.

We arrived at the restaurant , and stood by the elevator, while the 6-7 waitstaff stood around and looked at us. Once we were seated, things looked up when the waitress appeared immediately to take our drink order. We weren't surprised as we were probably 4 of 8 people in the entire space. Once we placed our order we waited about 10-15 minutes before our drinks arrived. (If it had been busy, we would've been totally fine with this - but there wasn't anyone else there!!). Once we had our incredibly terrible drinks, another waitress came to take our food order. We placed our order and waited.

Food arrived, our poached eggs were hard, and not very warm, the potatoes luke warm and mushy, the omelets still runny in the middle and the corn beef hash still cold and just out of the can.

We didn't see a waitress besides those two times until it was time for our check.

We will never again step foot in this place - it was a terrible experience, terrible food and terrible drinks. I would be embarrassed if I was affiliated in anyway with this restaurant.

Been to plymouth many times, service has been super. Love the roof the under $4 breakfast & very friendly staff.

Ran many restaurants, unfortunately not everything goes always right. Never give a place just 1 chance, not fair to the place, unfair to you.

Horrendous service! Finally got our lunch after an hr of waiting - had it packed to go! And didn't get what we ordered. Waitress seemed oblivious to our requests for where our food was. Gave us 1/2 off bill, but we didn't get what we ordered so who cared?

Great roof top bar but...
By Moto from Chicago, il, July 14, 2007

Great roof top bar but horrible service. Probably the most disrespectful and ignorant hostess I have ever encountered. We got there early and put our name on the list for a table for 8. After an hour we were given a table. Shortly after the ignorant hostess comes back and says we have to leave within an hour to make space for a larger party. Keep in mind that this was during happy hour so people tend to sit and drink. She proceeds to tell us that she would put us back on the waiting list for another table. After speaking to the manager who did nothing about it. We were offered two tables that were no where near each other. Bascially saying we had to split our party up. This is another example of a place with a great location and bar but completely ruined with horrible and idiotic service.
