Can never get an order right!

Don't ask for anything special because you won't get it. The waitstaff is great but the cooks can't seem to get it together. You want hash browns well done?? Forget it! You want to change a little something on the menu from eggs overeasy to sunnyside up...you will still get them overeasy. The pancakes are OVER cooked...tastes like you are eatting the bottom of the pan they were cooked in! You ask for them light brown, they still come out over cooked with no flavor. We stopped going there.

Juicy-O - Pretty Lousy
By cktwist from Lombard - Oak Brook, May 18, 2008

Went to Juicy-O's in Downers Grove this Sunday morning for breakfast.

I ordered stuffed French toast with peaches and pecans. It came out stone cold. Waitress sent it back and the second time the toast came out lukewarm. The problem is that the toppings (some sort of lousy cream sauce and canned peaches and few pecans) were cold. If the toast itself may have started out hot (which from the quality tasted like it was leftover), the cold toppings changed all of that. It came with a little container of (cold - what else?) syrup. I have had hot syrup offered in even the lowest end places, and this place gives cold.

My date had eggs florentine. The first time his potatoes were ice cold (indicating made yesterday?) Second time okay, but there was no meat on the eggs.

Very over-priced for the quality. Do not travel to go here. Just don't go.

Coffee was good, as were the little free donuts brought to all of the tables.

The owner (Jimmy Bannos of Heaven on 7 fame) should be ashamed. His Heaven on 7 restaurants are very good - this is not.

Fantastic Pancake House

From the outside it may not look that promising but once you enter an adorable pancake house which offers a wide variety of food that tastes amazing! Service wasn't the greatest but the food makes up for it soo much! Plus, before you get your breakfast they bring complimentary home made breakfast! Will go back many many times!

We happened upon Juicy O on our way back from the City one day. I spotted the "pancake house" sign and we thought, "Why not?". We did not regret our adventurous spirit this day! Although we had a bit of a wait, the service was friendly, informative, and attentive. The food was incredible. The selections were numerous and tantalizingly interesting. Each new category promised palate-pleasing delights. The flavors were fresh, unique, and distinct. Everything from the juice to the eggs tasted wholesome and bright. We will recommend Juicy O to all of our friends and family.

This is a very cute lil place for breakfast or a light lunch. I go there frequently with some people at work. Although it's hard to get a waitress's attention at times, everything else makes this a perfect spot to stop.

I agree with the other reviewers. This place is very good.

Since I work in the area, I've scheduled a bunch of lunch meetings here. It is definitely one of my favorites.

If you go, try the toasted pecan pancakes... I like those a lot.

I used to live in Downers Grove and went back the other day to find this gem of a place - well worth the trip!  The breakfast was delightful, everything was light and fresh, the potatoes were terrific and the frittata was wonderful.  They welcome you with delicious donuts when you sit down; it's such a relaxed and charming place.  I wish they had one in the city!

Juicy O was a terrific breakfast experience! Every item on the menu looks so good - it's difficult to decide whether to go sweet or savory... luckily, they bring these little warm donuts - on the house - while you are trying to make your decision! We had a big group (it's a great place for weekend brunch), which was fun because we could all try different things. I recommend the arugula and mozzarella egg scrambler and the whole wheat pancakes were heavenly! We will definitely return to try everything on that menu!
