Meson Sabika: User Reviews
I've only been here a handful of times, but I have fallen in love with this place. I went to their Sunday brunch (buffet) recently with my family and was absolutely beyond satisfied with everything. I usually wouldn't pay so much ($26.95/ea) for Sunday brunch, but I had a certificate they gave us after a dinner there ($15 off), so I figured why not... The price is worth it. Their food (paella, calamari, beef, escargot, and way way more) was perfection to the extent and their staff was super nice.

Meson Sabika was my first Tapas experience, so I didn't really know what to expect. I went with a group of 8 on Friday night. Had no problem getting a reservation but we did go eat at 8pm. We were greeted by a friendly hostes and were seated immediatly. The server was your average server...he made some suggestions, nothing fantastic. We all ordered about 2-3 plates a piece and shared. Everything I ate, I thought was amazing. While many of the dishes seemed fairly simple, each one had it's own highlight and complimented the main ingredient well. The sangria was ok, definitly not worth 25 bucks a pitcher and the deserts left much to be desired. The atmosphere and ambiance doesn't fit a Spanish theme, but being in an old mansion gives you that at home feel. It is somewhat loud, but it's a restaurant, not your dinning room. The dishes averaged about 9 bucks, and seemed worth every bit. I plan on going again!

My boyfriend and I took my father (who is an extremely picky eater) to this place. We scrambled at the last minute (3pm) to make a reservation on a Saturday night and was lucky to get one at 6pm. We got right in with no problem at all, and seated out on the patio in a beautiful location. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable of the specials, the food, drinks, etc. Most of the waiting staff is spanish-speaking, which helps I am sure, but it was a nice cultural experience. We ordered many different tapas, since we had never really experienced the type of food, and we found the them to all be incredible and versatile. My father even loved everything he tried (which was a huge surprise)! The sangria is excellent, with many different fruits in it. The prices were more than reasonable and affordable. I would HIGHLY recommend this place for any occasion, and I'd go again in a second. As for the high noise level everyone keeps commenting on, I am not sure how a place like this CAN'T be somewhat noisy. After all, it's a site for wedding receptions and banquets, and it's in a mansion. I wasn't too bothered by it.

Just returned from lunch at the Meson Sabika. The restaurant is a gorgeous mansion on a four acre site not far from downtown Naperville and looks simply stunning from the outside.
The menu which is tapas style was very extensive with so many dishes to choice from offering both hot and cold dishes. The food and level of service was excellent and I would certainly eat here again.
The only negative was that the decor is very dated inside and didn’t live up to the mansions outside appeal. Even so I would still return just for the food.
I would told by another fellow diner that the Sunday brunch is a must!!!

It was a little high priced for Tapas food. The service is slow and if you eat inside the rooms are cramped and loud. The sangria taste like all syrup and no booze. The exterior is nice and is loud as well.

This restaurant is not worth your time and money. My husband and I tried to go there for our anniversary. We were treated horribly, and will never return. Even with a reservation, we had to wait for a table. (NOTE: The hostess will seat "regulars" before she'll seat anyone she doesn't know!!!) The staff (particularly the hostess) is incredibly rude and snobbish. The food is mediocre (at best) -- bland, uninspired, and lacking in variety. The prices are very high for the quality of food. It is too loud, and the ambience is severely lacking. We only stayed for a few plates of tapas and a drink (we had to eat in the bar while we were "waiting" for a table. By the way, we were never formally seated. When we finally got tired of waiting for a table, we told the hostess we were leaving. Suddenly, a table was available! Ha--we went to have sushi instead.) There are so many better places in the Naperville area to have tapas -- don't waste your money here!

I enjoyed the food, however the service is a bit slow. The desserts are not that great..La Tasca's (Arl. Heights) dessert is much better..I have been here about three times...it's not that bad..pretty good..

I couldn't believe how noisy the restaurant was, the rooms are former dining rooms and I guess this doesn't help with the acoustics but on the Saturday night we went there was a large wedding party and several other large groups in the same room, all shouting across the table at one another.
This meant that my date and I could barely hear one another due to the general volume of other conversations

Went to Meson tonight with my wife, and our overall experience was very good. It was a nice night, so we got a table outside, which was an excellent spot to be. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive, and told us all the wait staff has to try all the food, so they can answer questions properly. All the food and drinks we had were very good. This is a great spot, with very good food, and just an overall fun time. Would reccomend and return.

When you go you HAVE to try the following tapas: garlic potato salad, goat cheese & tomato, and the tiger shrimp in butter & garlic. Ummmmmm so good! Eating outside is so pretty on a nice spring/summers day. Nothing but good things to say about Meson Sabika. They even have a Sunday Brunch if you want to try a bunch on diff tapas. They even have kid friendly food on the brunch buffet. If you haven't tried it, you don't know what you are missing!
