Cuatro: User Reviews
Had reservations on a Friday night - were seated right away without any problems. The waiter was pretty attentive - slacked a bit during dinner but very friendly and very knowledgeable about the food. The food was GREAT! Portions were huge! I recommend the ceviche and the corn/potato chowder. Just be forewarned the restaurant is fairly loud, so don't expect intimate conversation. Overall a must try!

Not sure if the two previous reviews went to the same restaurant. Met friends there who went downtown on their honeymoon (two working professionals). One person was a vegetarian, and while searching metromix Cuatro popped up. We had a great time and a great meal! Saturday night Dinner at 7:15, made reservations through open table. Did we need reservations at that time, looks like no. We had a great waiter. When we arrived, and sat down, we chatted with him a bit, so that he knew that this was a "special dinner". We sat, talked, and ate, and had a 3 hour dinner, never feeling rushed. I judge service by the feeling you get while interacting with the wait staff, and we were impressed. Water glasses were constantly refilled. Checks on the table were about every 15, which was very good. Perfectly executed "I'll have a glass of wine when the meal arrives". Mark of a good wait staff and support staff. Very knowledgable about the food, and when asked make great recommendations! The drinks were great. Normal price for the drinks in chicago (IE a little pricey). The appetizer was great. The dinner was fantastic with the flavors. I recommend the pork chop! all in the party thought the food was great. Our vegetarian ate every bit, and I've never seen her clear a plate. Critiques? At about 9:30 the place goes from restuarant to bar. It did get very loud. Interesting change of atmosphere, but it was fine. If you are trying the place for dinner and talking, do early don't stay late. Cover charge started some time after we came in. Valet was $10 and reasonable. Desert took forever to come, waiter appologized, and the kitchen was very busy at the time we ordered desert. In the south loop, VERY near IIT, Basically Michigan avenue and 21st street.

From the moment we walked in the door, we were truly impressed. Our server, Lisa has such a charming personality and made us feel comfortable and truly welcome. She explained the specials in detail, helped us with wine selection and answered our questions in such a delightful manner. One of the best servers I have ever had. The busboy was not overbearing and did not make us feel rushed. The music was charming and not loud, allowing us to truly enjoy our dinner and conversation. The food was exceptional. The flavors were unlike any I have tasted in a long time. The yuca cake a great surprise, I even ordered an extra serving. The wait was not long for our entrees and were delicious! Everything was great from beginning to end and I cannot wait to come back. We both have been talking about it ever since and will be recommending it to everyone we know. I even posted a blog about how great it was on my facebook profile. EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!

I went to Cuarto for the first time this weekend. My experience here was excellent. I didn't have a reservation and only waited 15 min for a table for 3 on a Friday. For appetizers we tried the Empanadas De Cangrejo which were pretty good. The salsa that came with the empanadas was a bit spicy but edible. I had the Trucha Amazonas which was delicious and recommended by the waiter. Their sangria is decent not too sweet.

Went here for the first time with good friends for dinner and cocktails. The place is nicely decorated, and the food was good. However, the customer service leaves much to be desired. During desserts and coffee, the hostess told us that another customer had reserved the booth we were in and she then presented us with the bill to pay! The sad thing is that- 1) there was plenty of seating elsewhere inside the restaurant, and 2) WE had made reservations SEVERAL DAYS IN ADVANCE too. During the dinner, we brought many drinks, appetizers, entrees, desserts, and coffees. We did not cause any problems. It is pathetic that at Cuatro there is no such thing as basic manners and appreciation for their patrons.

Overpriced, tasteless food. Drinks were amazing. $28 for a piece of chicken that had a bone in it? Don't think so. Save your money on dinner and get appetizers...much better tasting but still a bad value.

I couldn't believe that the South Loop was hiding this extraordinary place! The food was delicious and the serive was nice. It was a bit crowded when we went there due to the dancing/music starting around 10p but we enjoyed it. The place came alive with salsa, house, and live percussion! I think everyone should walk over and see what a fabulous place is right around the corner!
