Amazing food- if you want to test real authentic Moroccan food for very affordable price-this is the place to go. Environment is not the fancy or romantic but you will get every pennies worth of food-it’s great. Restaurant has only one waiter/owner/chef but he’s very nice and polite and its BYOB how can you bit that:)

This hidden jewel feels a lot like the non-tourist restaurants in Morocco. The food is excellent and they have this amazing dish called Pastise ( I'm probably spelling it wrong) which is a meat/chicken pie with flaky pastry. I tasted it first at a new year's eve celebration in Ouarzazate. It's delicious and I don't think anyone else serves it in Chicago. Try this place!

Upon first glance you wouldn't think this place would offer anything even mildly amazing, but, just like a lot of places in Chicago, it is a diamond in the ruff. I'll start with the eclectic little things for sale around the restaurant, very cool and all of the items are straight from Morocco. The waiting staff was excellent and very hospitable. I was shocked to read the bad reviews about this place's service. The food steals the spotlight though, I had the Briwatt rolls and Falafel for our appetizer and then two different tajeens for our main course. All of them were fantastic and tasty. Don't pass this place up, and make sure to bring some wine.

I absolutely love moroccan cuisine and can't belive that i am jsut finding ot about marrakech. This place has tons of cool little things from morocco that you can buy, lamps, jewelry, tapestries, etc, and its BYOB!!! Then there is the food, i can't honestly say that i have had better hummus anywhere else. my friends and i ordered a variety of appetizers and entree's and everything was extremely delicious and authentic. The service was quick and painless. I highly reccomend coming here and trying this great food and experiencing some great moroccan dining. A++++++.

I had been the Marrakesh once before and it was mediocre--service, food, ambience. Nothing compared to my last visit, when I went with a group of 8 friends to have a casual dinner at this BYOB spot. Just after we sat down, a homeless man entered the restaurant and asked everyone at our table for money. He was stumbling and mumbling and when we said no, he moved to the table behind us. He hovered over their whole table for minutes and literally stood there refusing to budge. Staff was nowhere in sight, but when my friend went to the back to notify a waiter, he shrugged his shoulders and said "So, what's the problem?" When I told this waiter that the man was soliciting that was bordering on harrassment, the waiter turned away. Needless to say, our whole party got up and left, appalled at the poor service and bizarre experience.

Food smelled great and what little we got tasted great. The problem was that for an hour and 45 minutes we only got appetizers and never got a chance to order entrees. The owner must be arrogant or unaware - he hired a band but not one waitress/waiter to service the customers. It's like a one man show but he just can't juggle all the tables.

We tried out this place on a whim, and reall y enjoyed our dinner. Keep in mind that only 1 person works there, and he is the cook, hostess, and waiter all at the same time! We had the chicken tagine, which was very flavorful and the meat was tender. A wonderful casual place if you want great food!

Walking by and it seems like a secondhand shop. But once you enter, you see what it really is. Very intimate setting and great service. Owner meets you at the door. Not a huge menu but when the food is this good you don't need a lot of options. The pita bread is the best!!

Food is amazing! All homemade, no artificial ingredients, no fast boiling. We had lamb, chicken pastille, and soup. All of the dishes were perfect. We've never had food that was so rich in flavor and well-prepared. The lamb was the best we've ever experienced in Chicago. It is baked and grilled to perfection.
Don't miss this place! The decor is modest although we prefer a home feel to the glitzy near-north dime-a-dozen restaurants with a Ferrari parked out front.

I had a very romantic dinner here with my boyfriend on a Thursday night. I called ahead and asked how busy they were. We brought 2 bottles of wine. We were welcomed and although there were no other guests we had an amazing time!
We had very fresh, homemade food. The service was excellent and we know we will be back! Try it, you will like it!!!
