With a small menu and only four tables inside, it would be easy to overlook Mr. D's. The philosophy, however, is obviously to do only a few things, but do them right. The 'shish kebob' sandwiches, served on a long roll with tomato and lemon wedge, come covered in piping-hot fries. The fries are hand-cut to order right at the counter; all sandwiches cost just a few bucks and include a heaping portion. The value and tasty food are obviously well-known in the neighborhood, as there is usually a good crowd ready to wolf down the made-to-order meals. The namesake 'shish kabob' is a real treat, with lean cubes of beef marinated and seasoned before being quickly seared and served up.
