Overall rating:

I went with a group of people for a birthday - BYOB saved $ the Hummus was outstanding - we all split meals and tried everything - the chicken, lamb, and especially beef dinner meals were among the best I've had in the city. Excellent, a perfect 10 on the food - I'm going back this week. You may want a few drinks in you in case the belly dancer asks you to dance.

Just TERRIBLE

I don't really have anything nice to say about this place except that our waitress was kind of nice. I wanted to order an appetizer as a meal because I wasn't very hungry. I was told that I had to order a meal or I would be charged $7 extra. If anyone at the table wanted to share anything, it was another $7 charge per person. So, I ordered a meal and just didn't eat it. Apparently this place wants to get your money for the night, but really isn't looking to have any repeat customers. The owner has my $13, but he will never have another cent from me or from anyone I know. Is this good business? I have worked in food and beverage for 12 years, and this place insulted me. The food was not very good, they forgot to bring 2 of my friends appetizers, and the music for the belly dancer was louder than a nightclub. I can't believe this place has any positive reviews. Just TERRIBLE...

Amazing!

This place has amazing food, great service and the prices can't be beat. We drove by and wrote the name down. Went back and loved it. The service was so nice and helpful in choosing a meal. We ended up going back the next weekend. The belly dancer was fun and not in your face. You can't leave this place without being full and completely satisfied.

We shared hummus as an appetizer - so much better than your average hummus!!! And based on the other reviews I read, I ordered the beef shish kabobs as an entree. The meet was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and melted in my mouth. The wait staff was attentive and friendly, yet not intrusive. I definitely recommend this restaurant and will be returning in the near future.

French fries in Falafel Sandwich

We have been looking for a falafel place in downtown. So I thought I would give this place a try. I did carry out for a falafel sandwich and I could not believe when I opened the box at home. There was a wrap (not pita) stuffed with may be one falafel, no salad, and believe it or not french fries! Apart from the sandwich, the box too had french fries. If I wanted french fries may be I could have just ordered them at McDonald for 99 cents rather than going to Kan Zaman and paying 6 bucks.

BEST MIDDLE EASTERN FOOD

I love Kan Zaman...I loved it when it was in Andersonville...and it has only gotten better! Whether you are a vegetarian or a meat lover this is the place for you. The Falafel are the best! Kabobs...all of them...one yummier then the other. The vegetarian platter is excellent. The lamb, Beef, Chicken dishes are all delicious. Owner is so nice. Nice new addition to the staff....sweet personality....great service....she is great!
Thanks Kan Zaman....you never disappoint.

Authentic Middle East Food

We had a great time here on New Year's Eve, a friend's birthday, and now planning my son's first communion brunch! Great Food, love the service, nice atmosphere, easy loacation, it's definitely my favorite Lebanese Restaurant in Chicago!!

We just got back from this restaurant and we really had a great time. We went on a Friday night about 6:30 and had no problem getting a table. We brought a bottle of wine...which is always nice! We ordered the veggie combo appetizer. All of the dips were really good and the grape leaves were the best we've had. We each had the lentil soup, it was very tasty. I ordered the beef kabobs, the waiter recommended them and she was right on! I'm not usually one to like to moan when I eat but I seriously couldn't help myself. With each bite I was literally in heaven. My husband ordered the lamb kabobs and he thought they were really good but agreed that the beef kabobs that I ordered was much better. After dinner we ordered the apple hookah and that was very refreshing but will no longer be served after the first of the year (2008) due to the new smoking law. Too bad though because that was really fun...even though we're not smokers. The experience overall was fantastic and we'll definitely go back and will recommend it to our friends and family. We spent $60.00 (not including tip) for a combo appetizer, soup for each of us, each had an entree, one dessert and one coffee. You should go....it was the best Lebanese resturant we've been to in this city.
